Look, I think we can all agree that Doug just isn't Bushwood material. If you can't pay cash for your Ferrari you don't deserve to own it, especially if you're not going to give it the respect it deserves. You don't strap a TV to a Ferrari, you don't take a Ferrari to a drag strip, you take pictures of a girl standing in front of it and use it as your avatar on f-chat, that is how you respect a Ferrari.

You look lovingly at it, you humble-brag about owning one, you subtly mention that you own a Ferrari to random strangers, but you certainly don't drive it more than a few miles on a (sunny) weekend because you are rich enough to own one (paid cash!), but heaven forbid it depreciates through actual use.

Furthermore, you do not use a Ferrari (especially a red one) for attention seeking behavior or to "use the cache of Ferrari", you buy a Ferrari to slip through life unnoticed. However, if someone tries to tell you that Ferraris are "common", make sure to put them in their place as well.

    It's a complicated issue.

Some of you guys are taking his videos way too seriously. They are for entertainment purposes, and many of his comments are actually not far from the truth.

Take the gas station one. It's spot on for me. The last time I filled up, the guy across from me kept talking about his dad's muscle car, another guy came over to look at it and ask questions, and a family came over to ask if they could take pics of their kid with it. It's NEVER as simple as pulling in, filling up, then leaving.

Once I pulled up into a gas station with the F430 nice and shiney detailed and all that. The station was filled there were like 6 other cars there. I didn't get a single comment, not even a second look. There were some senior citizens there, a couple of families, and some teenagers who looked more interested in their iphone than what's around them.

The experience was peaceful, and almost surreal. The Ferrari at that moment had become like any normal car pulling up for fuel. It all seemed so, uh "normal" I guess is the right word :)

I found his video clips amusing. I actually went looking for more once I saw a couple.
He's a funny guy, and good on him for having a laugh and not taking things too seriously.

And who gives **** on how someone dresses? Not me for one.

I hope he's back again with his Cayman, or what ever it is he'll be in next.

The power of a Ferrari, basically no one would know who this guy is if it wasn't for that red 360...

This seems extremely plausible, at the very least he accelerated his page views way earlier than he could have done with anything else.

Doug has brought out the worst in some of you. I'm both surprised and not surprised that you don't realize it. Your representation of a Ferrari owner is just as bad as you're describing his, just in a different way. I think one word sums it up:

    "Wow"

A good personal quality, as well as one in business, is to be able to be able to use humor to push the uncomfortable extremes, both good and bad. It helps create perspective whether you take action or not. As a Ferrari owner, I find his videos humorous and can easily sit above them and enjoy.

To each his own. I respect my Ferrari by marveling at the technology, art and raw driving experience.

Seriously this. I literally lol when some guy said he was "disrespecting" a car that he owned. How can someone be so bothered by the actions of another that has no affect their own or anyone else is mind boggling.

Actually people like Doug have a pretty big affect, but it goes under the rader. A growing percentage of the population are becoming detached from the physical world around them, family's no longer meeting to talk in the family room or during kitchen dinner. Instead, people are often so absorbed in their electronic devices, and that becomes their outlet for conversation. Talking is transformed to tweeting. If you read a lot of the comments from Doug's videos or the "articles" he writes, their are tons of comments about how unreliable, expensive, and ****** Ferrari owners are. Most observations are often not based on first hand accounts, but stories and scenarios played out on youtube. It is not Doug's fault that readers and viewers often lack the ambition or wherewithal to actually test some of the claims being presented, but having a sports car is not nearly as dramatic as he often presented.

Ferrari gets a lot of attention for maintenance and car parts, but a modern Mercedes or Bmw out of warranty can be downright horrifying to fix.....especially one with a V12!!!

The funniest thing about this thread is that it will be in an article from Doug in the future - you just know it. And I can't wait to read it as well as the reaction it will get on fchat.

I like the sentiment that if you can't pay cash then it isn't really yours, you are less of an "owner", shouldn't own it, etc. Lol.

Chris Harris, as an example, affords big money cars w creative financing - from what I understand. My friend leases a Porsche superish car through his business. He could afford to buy 20 of them.

I bet Doug is able to write off a lot of the cost of the 360 since it is part of his job. Oh noes! The horror!

I hope he does. I'd actually be interested in that. He could call it, "Ferrari ownership and the star belly sneeches".

We are all entitled to our own opinion and feelings. But I agree with above. To each his own. Whatever one decides to do with his car is his prerogative. It is not my car, so, I could care less.

Ok, so after reading these past 4 pages, (time I will never get back, thank you!) I was unable to determine if the person who bought Doug's car is on this forum.

I would think the simple absurdity of the conversation in this thread would horrify the new owner from ever participating, here.

To the new owner: please join in, the are reasonable people here and we are the majority!

    Thank you.

I think Doug got owned by that 360.
Maybe he will move into a 458 now and have better luck with the laddies (sic).

He is entertaining, I'll give him that.
We should just lighten up a bit.
    It's just a car, right?
