My father had a 1961 - triple black, 283 2x4bbl (the hottest carb model) - I think 270HP. My brother has the car now. Lovely car here - GLWS!
I agree. The disc brakes and the 327 will cost points for any NCRS certification, though. No 327 until 1962 and no disc brakes until 1965. This would make a sweet driver. Best of luck with the sale. The C1 values have soared recently.
Beautiful car! May I suggest putting the stock wheels and tires on the car. I believe that it will assist in reaching your asking price. Most Corvette enthusiasts are purists and those that have the money to afford such a beauty would more than likely prefer the car how it lest the factory.
At that price and with those wheels, you will suck on that lollipop for awhile. It will be rejected by anyone who fails to realize those cars drive like old pickup trucks. Nice to look at and that's all.
Still too high for what it is. It is beautiful however it is not a restomod and not a classic in the true sense...just my opinion from someone that has owned vettes
The car is a fully restored, numbers matching vehicle is with all original parts (less wheels). I doubt you can restore/build this car for close to the asking price
Yes, and the ad says it comes with the original wheels and hardtop as extras. "This Corvette is in fantastic restored condition, with only 53,073 original miles!!! The car and has only 500 miles since engine, transmission and rear end have been overhauled to original specifications.. The interior is in flawless condition being restored only 1 year ago, and the paint shows very well with little imperfections. The undercarriage is super clean with no rust whatsoever. The car starts runs and drives perfectly. Included with the car is its original hardtop and wheels." And the ad says the latest asking price is $119,999. Beautiful car IMHO. Plus, these early Corvettes came with a trunk - something the later Corvette convertibles did without for many years starting in 1963. Good luck with the sale. .
Where do u get that the car has a 327 and not a 283? Also same for the brakes. Can't find these details.
I'm sure you know that the 283 and 327 is the same block if the seller does not truly know it's only 283 CI judging by the physical size it looks like a 327 SB...just my guess
may be all original parts, but many components in the engine bay are incorrectly plated...too much chrome. Fairly easy to change, and the engine bay looks nice and clean.
Then why are these threads open for replies? Why are they simply not locked? If someone comes here to sell or buy a vehicle and other people on the board have specific background information on a car or expertise on a make or model, should they not be able to share it and or inform either seller or buyer?
there is a BIG difference between asking legit question from potential buyer standpoint or just attacking from a non-buyer. if the post is trolling, we're not going to put up with wherever it is on FerrariChat.
So my post #18 noting that there are some non-origianl coatings on some of the engine components, or others noting the wheels are not original is informative and passable or since we are non buyers are we supposed to refrain from comment? I'm not trying to start anything, just trying to understand where the line is.
Don't think I had too many problems with what you posted, more Lonnie commenting on the price and how he did it as a non-buyer.
The 327 was in the original link to the ad. I see it has been changed to read 283. The photos show disc brakes.
honestly it was the value comment that rubbed me wrong the most. informed users should be able to point some things out.
Yep 100% agree. Valid info is a benifit to both buyers and sellers and I think and thats one of the reasons people love f-chat, the sense of community and support that can be found here.
