Audi in F1?

That one was on the british feed prior to the race I think. Or perhaps during yesterdays qualifying.

I've seen that one broadcast during the last 24 hours.

 

Is that the right ad? I saw nothing about F1.

BTW Having to watch an insurance ad on YouTube before I can see the Audi ad seems odd.

 

I never saw an F1 themed Audi ad but I recall seeing that one, as I said either during qualifying or pre race today.

Its an add from last year too apparently, strange.

 

As much as I'd love to see Audi in F-1, that ad connects no dots to F-1 what so ever.

Audi continue to issue official statements to the effect that they have no plans to enter
F-1, but these statements are different in that they're responding to rumors which they
rarely/never do.

If Audi were to enter F-1, the announcement would not be in the form of a thinly veiled
ad but an official statement directly from the Audi Sport division. So far, that has not
happened.

Red Bull - Porsche makes more sense IMO...They actually sell Porsches.

it makes more sense for Porsche to stay in endurance racing and either Audi or one of the other brands to be in F-1.

Audi can make an engine and use everal brands with other teams:

Audi
Lamborghini
Bugatti

all make sense for marketing purposes.

 

No. Vw do. They barely sell any Bugatti's hence Bugatti will be a dumb name to use of all the brands they can use IMO....

 

Hmm - they now employ Domenicali who has taken over from Berger as the president of the FIA Single Seater Commission - going forward he would surely need to keep current (which as I recall Berger did as a consultant to Red Bull)

 

Read this part:

At least one of them would need to leave their current position before a VW Group brand could enter F1.

......and thought straight away: "So that's the end of VW entering F1 any time soon then!"

I agree. It would be much better for VAG for RB to use a Porsche badged engine in its F1 car and leave Audi in LeMans racing.

 

Makes more sense to brand it as a Lamborghini on many levels. Porsche doesn't need to raise its profile in the racing world to help increase sales, Lamborghini does.

Domenicali gets a chance at some revenge on Ferrari, Piech would love nothing more than to beat Ferrari with his own Italian brand in F1. While Piech may dislike Bernie, that is nothing compared to his hatred for Marcchione. Humiliating Marcchione's Ferrari on the world stage with Lamborghini is something that Piech would love to do.

 

I think Marchione has played Piech perfectly. Keeping VAGs interest so public in FCA's brand portfolio played its part in the rise and rise of FCA.

 

Buy do Lambo buyers want racing or old reruns of Desperate Housewives? While I know there are exceptions, in my 30+ years of Porsche and Ferrari ownership, I have found most US Lambo owners to be more interested in crise-in car shows than carving mountain curves or DE events.

 

Lamborghini has been quietly trying to change their customer profile the past few years, away from the Kanye West rap video image to one of extreme engineering. Part of that is racing, they have been running in GT3 for a few years and have expanded the Super Trofeo (Challenge) Series to now include running with Grand Am in NA.

On the subject of DE while it doesn't seem to have happened to Porsche owners yet, current model Ferrari owners for the most part do not do DE events anymore. Most of the 458s at track events are used Challenge cars brought by owners that moved up from their 430 Challenge cars. If you see one or two 458 road cars on track at an FCA DE event you're lucky, and those that do track are more of the touring type of driver. You won't see a California, much less an F12 or an FF. Forget about a La Ferrari. Unfortunately the current group of new Ferrari owners have become the Fashion Accessory owners that were the disdain of old long time Ferrari owners.

 

Off topic, but I met his grand daughter in person, Sophie. She's working in Porsche Singapore for her internship. Pretty chic i would say
