    Hi all,

I don't have a photo yet (will get one), but as I get to know my 550, I came across a button the user manual doesn't discuss.

It's a on/off button (with I/O), places in the center console inside the narrow rectangle compartment next to the gear shift.

I actually hadn't noticed it at first. I sit my phone in there and it covered it, plus it's a couple inches deep.

If I press it on and off, from inside I don't see anything happen. User guide, as mentioned does not list it so thought I'd ask here.

And I will post a photo soon in case that just wasn't clear.

    Thanks.

    a.

Whatever it is, it isn't original. Could have been part of an alarm system, aftermarket stereo or maybe for the flux capacitor.

Lol... I'm hoping its for a flux capacitor.

Didn't know it wasn't original, and there is a new stereo system and rear view camera, so I think I'll start looking at that.

    Thanks!

I believe I have the same switch and I also think it is tied into the aftermarket stereo amplifier that the previous owner installed in the trunk with additional speakers. I just haven't gotten around to removing it.

Not so funny. I think I will add NOS and use the dumb switch that the USA cars have that the Euro car use as a foglight switch. Why? Because I got lots of nitrous plus laying around and NOS solinoids from my street racer days. I think I will put 650hp to the ground just because I can.

Carl I think you have been breathing too much of your own nitrous :)

Interesting... Mine too has an amp in the trunk.

Will have to play some music and see if turning it on and off has an effect.

...I also wonder if, as you hinted, some other speakers or even a subwoofer would have been attached?

No extra speakers outside the built in ones, but a sub woofer can easily be unplugged if it was simply in the trunk...

    We'll see :)

    Thanks!

I would love to see that. I personally am comfortable using NOS for American Iron but I am too much of a whimp to risk my 575 engine with it. Your install could be really clean. As you stated the dummy switch could be the system activation switch and you could change the gearshift knob for one that has a built in switch. Alternatively you could have the NOS switch mounted at the end of the gas pedal travel so that it only triggers the solenoids a WOT.

Question: Would you be installing a separate fuel system for the NOS of try to piggy back on the the factory pumps?

I never thought that far in advance. It is but one of many projects.

FBB- That switch is an inoperable dummy and you would need to replace it with an operational switch that is a two way, on/off like the Sport switch.
