The roar of the crowd can be heard getting louder, soon to be out done by rumble of the exhaust.
    Well done!

    Dear Michael,

I'm just curious. The 308 GT/M is that the first, second or third one.
Because I've seen the third one a few times in the Nethelands.

Your car looks exactly as the one I've seen.

is that the generally best methodl for tuning 12 throats? vs a flowmeter or tube-in-ear method?

i have had a hard time with the manometers.

    beautiful car.

I never noticed this until now, your air filter box covers are white.
I always thought the white covers were for the 4 liter engines and the black for the later 5 liter engines. However in looking through this entire thread I see that the early photos of your car always show the white covers. I highly doubt someone changed them so my thought on the 4 liter engines having white covers and the 5 liter engines having black covers must be wrong.

Then what gives here? Why the white covers? Is it because the car was an early production LP5000S? I doubt they were changed but who knows. I am certainly not trying to make a deal out of it as Michael has done such a thorough job in restoring this car, just my curiosity is getting the better of me. Vic

We put in a little overtime today, as we were so close to having the car ready to roll. Sometime around midnight we were satisfied that everything was in check to take the car for a quick spin around the block. SUCCESS- It's all downhill from here :)

The air box tops are white on all Countach LP500S (or 5000S) that have passed through my hands. Also observe pages 12 and 33 of the owners manual supplied with these cars. BOTH images clearly show white covers. Perhaps some had white, and some had black originally? I only have personal experience with white covers. One thing is for sure when it comes to vintage Lambos: Small variances are the norm. Any true Countach anorak will agree.

I think most LP500S featuring white air-box tops have been changed, and I certainly thought that 12562's appeared to be refinished after Al Burtoni's work prior to me owning it. I also think that Lamborghini's owner's manuals sometimes depict images of pre-production cars featuring non-standard spec.

I don't have access to my archives but I have lots of images of LP500S being assembled at the factory using black air-box tops. The Borel book is a good source to show this.

I have also observed examples of LP500S in Jeremy Coulter's Countach book with black air box tops. As I stated before: small variances are the norm. Clearly some had black and some had white air box tops.
