    Hi everyone,

I’ve been browsing fchat for few hours and found it really informative, decided to sign up and post.

First, to introduce myself, I am 30 years old entrepreneur, lives in Saudi Arabia. I spent my last decade doing engineering school and post graduate studies in business between UC Irvine in Southern California, masters from NYU in New York, and executive studies at HBS in Boston. And then came back to Saudi to establish a business in real estate and investments.

During these years, I’ve been driving many kind of Ferraris of my family but never had the chance to order a personal one. I am very interested into start ordering personalized ones. Maybe F12 and then 458 replacement if this will happen soon. Since I have minimum knowledge about the history of Ferrari models and how they change their models over years, I want to understand from you guys how this is usually happening.

I would like to have your insights on when the replacement for the 458/ F12/ FF will happen? Which is key and missing information for me right now.
Does anyone have any update on this??

Quick Googling doesn’t give me any valuable insights. I looked at the 2010-2014 Product plan which was presented by Sergio Marchionne on Fiat Investor Day April 21 2010. And the new updated 2014-2018 Roadmap which was presented by Sergio Marchionne on FCA Investor Day May 6th 2014. and then I looked on launching dates for all past 20-years road cars in all the four main product categories excluding all One-offs, challenge and racing track-only models, the very limited-production models, and the supercar category. Based on my understanding of this, I can try to connect it to Sergio’s new models target dates as follow:

Performance/ Sport Higher Price Category (Normally 12 Cylinder):
    • 550 Maranello in Mid-1996 (Convertible Version 550 Barchetta Pininfarina in Mid-2000)
    • 575M Maranello in Mid-2002 (Convertible Version 575M Superamerica in Q1-2005)
    • 599 GTB Fiorano in Mid-2006 (Upgraded version 599 GTO in Mid-2010, inspired by the 599XX)
    • F12berlinetta in Mid-2012 (New Upgraded Version is possible in Mid-2015)
    • Modification or New Model in Mid-2016 (Sergio’s announced target) or maybe delayed to Mid-2017 in case the FF replacement launch in 2016 to avoid launching two main models in same year (announced strategy).

Performance/ Sport Lower Price Category (Normally 8 Cylinder):
    • F355 Berlinetta in Mid-1994. F355 Spider and F355 GTS in Mid-1995. (Upgraded version Serie Fiorano in Mid-1998)
    • 360 Modena in Mid-1999. 360 Spider in Mid-2000. (Upgraded version 360 Challenge Stradale in Mid-2003, inspired by the race model 360 Modena Challenge)
    • F430 in Mid-2004. F430 Spider in Mid-2005. (Upgraded versions 430 Scuderia in Mid-2007. Scuderia Spider 16M in Mid-2008)
    • 458 in Mid-2009. 458 Spider in Mid-2011. (Upgraded versions 458 Speciale in Mid-2013. 458 Speciale A in Mid-2014)
    • Modification or New Model in Mid-2015 (Sergio’s announced target)

Versatility Higher Price Category (Normally 12 Cylinder 2+2 Coupe):
    • 456 in Mid-1992.
    • 456M in Mid-1998.
    • 612 Scaglietti in Mid-2003.
    • FF in Mid-2011.
    • Modification or New Model in Mid-2015 (Sergio’s announced target) or maybe delayed to Mid-2016 in case the 458 replacement launch in Mid-2015 to avoid launching two main models in same year (announced strategy).

Versatility Lower Price Category (Normally 8 Cylinder 2+2 Convertible):
    • Retirement of the “Mondial” model in 1993.
    • California in Mid-2008. Model update in Mid-2012.
    • California T in Mid-2014.
    • New Model in Mid-2018 (Sergio’s target)

I don’t know if these dates make any sense to you guys? I would like to have your insights.

Again I am really happy to join the fchat wonderful community.

    Many thanks,
    M7md

According to latest information (correct me if I'm wrong):
    - Ferrari 458 successor (458T) to be unveiled at Geneva in March 2015
    - Ferrari FF in 2016
    - Ferrari F12 in 2017

As you said the FF and F12 is not completely certain from this point in time. The 458T however will probably be released at Geneva.

Note that the 458 replacement will have a turbo engine, just like the California T. Although I think you don't have to be afraid of turbo lags.

Many recent reports suggest follwing years for model replacements, update, facelifts, etc
    - Both 458 and FF in 2015 (in just few months from now).
    - F12 in 2016 (after 14 months from today).
    - Something new in 2017.
    - California full replacement in 2018.

Two models in the same year? I wonder if this makes any sense.

As to the 458 Spider replacement, I don't see it being two years. The Speciale and Aperta came very close, and the 458 and the 458 Spider only came within a year. They will debut the 458 replacement in Geneva, and then debut the Spider in the Fall.
F12 Replacement in 2017 and then Cali replacement in '18.
What will happen with the LaF replacement? It's anybodys guess.

didnt the 430 coupe and spider get launched at the same time? The 458 replacement will be based on the 458 platform (as the 360-430). I would assume that we can expect a similar pattern.
