Didn't shoot the pic but it was sent to me mentioning the Bill Moyer connection to the black Spyder. Might have been 2009 but not sure now. Do you recall if the other red Spyder in the row was shown by Art Zafiropoulo or someone else? Very neat your Spyder is in the group view to!

The 1969 Fly Yellow 365 GTB/4 in this ad features the black paint body strip just like the Spyder version Daytona show car. The knock-off wheels are the straight ear variety as seen also on the Pininfarina built red coupe. The picture looks like it might have been taken behind the Pininfarina factory.

Don't recall on the top up red Spyder I only got over to look at it when owner was gone.. Was before 2009 ..it was a fun day and I chatted with Mr Moyer as he came over to compliment me on how detailed my car was..

Don't recall ever seeing a silver Spyder in person...silver is a very good color on either coupe or Spyder..did look at a silver coupe with 00253 original miles and ALL original in Costa Mesa ca in 2000 that was in a private collection, original paint was faded in some spots and the driver seat dye was worn thin from people getting in and out so much..wonder where that car is now? Timo do you know? This is your stopping grounds!

Here you go - another silver Daytona Spyder. For example half a dozen USA Daytona models were silver in 1972. Five of them had a black interior and only one had a dark red interior.

Eared knockoffs were deemed unsafe by the Feds.

The USA government safety standards changed so manufacturers no longer offered the knock-off spinner on cars built for the USA market. As an example 1966 was the last model year for the Corvette to offer the knock-off wheels option. Even the spare tire was mounted on a knock-off wheel so it would be compatible. For 1967 the Corvette had a similar looking wheel but it had a small hub cap (with no KO spinner) covering the 5 lug nuts that instead attached the wheel.
Government standards were also the reason that the USA 1971 Daytona got pop-up headlights instead of the plexi covered lights. This along with a different exhaust system and some other changes compared to the euro version models contributed to the two year delay for delivery of USA Daytona models starting in 1971.
