The Daytona prototype 10287 was built in 1967 and tested by the factory. Later sold to a customer in the year 1968 when this picture was taken. Kept by the owner until early 1972 when the car was again sold on.

Credit to Albaco for this image!

Fascinating to see what they (he) chose to change.

    ^Not quite accurately stated...
...so I'm hoping to clarify: As stated below...
... and therefor U.S. destined examples were fitted with "Octagon"-style (1st pic) knock-offs instead of the "3 Eared"-style (2nd pic).
Cars fitted with "Octagon"-style hub nuts came with special wrench designed for hammering them tight or loose (sorry, no picture of wrench available at the moment).

Thank you for taking the time on the details and pictures Timo! The spinner was gone and replaced by the hub nut attachment as you clearly show.

Has anyone ever been "Ben Hured" by the eared knockoffs?

Sounds like a solution to a nonexistent problem.

    Maybe.
Angela Isadora Duncan (May 27, 1877 – September 14, 1927) was an American dancer.
Her fondness for flowing scarves contributed to her death in an automobile accident in Nice, France, when she was a passenger in an Amilcar. Her silk scarf, draped around her neck, became entangled around the wire-wheel and axle, breaking her neck.

There is also that nasty Aston Martin from "Goldfinger."

Thank you for not perpetuating the myth that it was a Bugatti.

Better they should ban ridiculously long scarfs.
    ;)

Charles, do you have any more photos of this car or info?
It looks RHD but does not have the side repeaters in the front wings?

Grant just that one picture. Perhaps they were filled in when the car was restored for a cleaner look?

I believe that this is an original car with less than 3000 miles. It was being offered about a year ago for sale.
    That is the Marrone car.

17013 delivered new through FAF in Atlanta GA. Offered by various dealers/agents and later offered for sale in the Black Hawk Collection in California? If it had been red it probably would have sold quicker; as the color was a negative for some buyers!

Another different USA GTS with big KO spinner wheels added...

This Daytona Spyder 16913 was restored as red when offered at auction. However when new the original delivery color was marrone just like the Spyder pictured above in post #764. The original owner put more than 30k miles on the car after he took delivery in early 1974...

That Daytona looks like it is at Hampton Court Palace. In about 1993 they restored the privy garden there exactly as it looked way back in 1702.
