Great videos Dave. Much appreciated. I will be attacking this project after the Holidays. Keep posting the pics. Your car will soon be a rock star!!!
Your second theory. While I dont have the time or patience to come up with the exact formula like Dave has, the taking apart, cleaning and recovering was a walk in the park. It was also my fist and only time using mostly household products. I also agree with you using new parts is not cost effective and also does not gurantee no sticky as most parts have been sitting around as long as some of these cars.
You are welcome, Rob. I am adicted to these cars and making them right. I enjoy the oppurtunity to help others as many have helped me.
Robbie, in reference to the parts you and Ricambi sell as reproduction, first off, in my main business I can appreciate the upfront cost of investing in injection molds - they are not cheap. But, I did buy the mirror switch trim and the finish was pretty poor and I did refinish it. It is not consistent to other parts you did for me. Others have made the same comment to me so I'm not sure if you did those as an old process. Also, the shift gate trim I bought from ebay was also refinished by you and that piece was also better than the mirror trim but it was still off. Just an FYI
so are you admitting here that you are now commercial, so this thread is commercial although you aren't a sponsor?
Ha...I didn't know that. All good, as you know Ive always been happy with my parts either thru you or thru NJB taking care of them thru u.
2. Commercial Posts: 2.1 Please do not post any messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, forums, email address, business, MLM, activity, or other entities that you have an affiliation with (ie. no self-promotion). The posting of refinished sticky pieces by you is nothing more than a promotion for your yet to be launched business. I said it the other night and you continue doing it.
Bob, you are wrong and I really don't see why you care - how does any of this effect you? You are only trying to stir the post by bringing this entire topic up over and over again. You are trolling which is a violation of the rules. Others have posted that they enjoy this thread - please move on.
Im not trolliog at all. Read what I posted . Here it is again. 2. Bob, this is none of your business - I'm discussion with Rob. You continue to make a fool of yourself. Please move on and stop repeating the same things over and over - we get it.
The only one promoting any business is you. Had you not posted over and over not a single person would know what you are talking about. Grow up, Bob.
What business is he promoting? The only person I've seen talk about a business in here is you and SNM, who is a sponsor. Did I miss something? Or are you trolling based on a potential future business that may or may not happen?
Dave...take your personal attacks out of this. You announced you are starting a business, you put out a teaser post you had "discovered" the magic elixir. You continue to post pictures of your magic solution in a supposed DIY thread. YOu are doing nothing but promoting an upcoming business, IMO. Really... Not everything you say and do is correct. Sorry.
Rob Lay, the owner of this site removed any posts they where not appropriate which I pointed him to. You have no respect for him since you are the one that brought it back up. You are not a moderator or site owner so this is none of your business and does not effect you one bit other than trying to harm me.
Talk about promoting a business and not being a sponsor!! Geesh!! https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferrari-parts-collectibles/470980-framed-ferrari-prints-aluminum.html Even promotes his web site!!!
Its like the free starving artist show in the back! https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferrari-parts-collectibles/470422-ferrari-prints-canvas-24-x-36-a.html Rob has bigger wories than Daves project car! But I suspect SNM is not interested in shutting down starving artist!
Big shield sale by a non-sponsor. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferrari-parts-collectibles/455497-ferrari-scuderia-fender-shields-badges-enamel-carbon-fiber.html Ok........i guess I have made my point.
Bob, since you seem to be such a stickler for transparency, why don't YOU be transparent and explain to the Board what your beef is with Dave? You're like a wolf with a t-bone in it's mouth - you just won't let go of this. Why???? Dave constantly makes an effort to share his knowledge and help other 355 owners. Just yesterday he took time to post yet another DIY video to help the no-talent DIY hacks like myself. Yet all you can do is engage in a childish war of words over whether or not he plans to offer refinishing services. Rob Lay is obviously aware of this as evidenced by his posts. Don't you think those two grown men can figure it out between themselves? This reminds me of a few years back where a couple of ankle-biters chased off the most valuable resource (Taz) on the 550 Board. He finally said "screw it, I won't contribute anymore" and the Board was far worse off for it. I'd hate to see the same thing happen on this Board with Dave. I haven't come across anybody else who is as helpful or knowledgeable. Let's not screw up a good thing here guys!!!
Most businesses start from gauging some sort of interest. Feedback and discussion is all part of it. I'm sure if Dave decided it was worth his while to pursue offering services as a side gig for the 355 community, he'd sign up to some level of sponsorship. Seems like he's still in his experimental stages and doesn't want to give sway any secrets in the case that he does decide to pursue it. i'm all for exchanging services between community members. It's all just a side gig. There are quite a bit of stuff community members have come up with as one off projects for their own cars and I only wished they would consider building more and offering them for sale.
