Wow, two guys I consider friends going at it. I would like to see both of you took a step back. I personally don't think sticky refinishing is a big deal. What happen to live and let live? If there is a breach of protocol let Rob take care of it. FChat is his baby.

Back to the regularly schedules program.....

Interesting. Didnt know that. Are they not all using the forum to make money? What would be the difference if I painted a few switches or I painted a car on a piece of tin? Just wondering?

So if it's been pulled, why are you harping on about it? Obviously the board moderators are aware and are making sure there's nothing out of bounds.

It has always been in our rules.

I have realized over time that no one cares about enforcing our commercial rules except me and sometimes our sponsors. There's much i miss, but i fix when i do find.

I would be careful with your course of posts, they are starting to become very trolling. I'm glad you owe Dave big favors for help with your garage, but if you continue acting as Dave's agent then you may get Dave in trouble when he's attempting to play by the rules on his own.

    Rob,

I'm only bringing this up here because it's now part of the discussion.

I would personally would like to see a better definition of the rules. I see the classifieds as a place to sell personal items no longer needed, not as a business forum (no matter what business it may be). Marcus did post one member selling parts (shields) so I just don't understand the difference.

Perhaps another level of sponsorship could help. Just a suggestion. And I only think Marcus is posting in response to Bob's trolling.

I've tried to have a nice restoration thread here which effects all parts of the car. I wish this thread had not become corrupt.

Well after editing your post to remove the part where you insult the guy who runs this place, you're only slightly less of a troll :D

Indeed, and it looks like the thread has been cleaned of any potential commercial posts with mods (and/or site owner) well aware of the discussion. I agree and fully understand with keeping commercial advertising out of the forum unless a paid sponsor, after all something has to pay for the site. However, that happened two or three pages back...

Guys, the attached part just came via UPS. It's an OEM part with OEM finish. My original part has broken tabs so I needed to replace it.

While it's not completely sticky yet, it is soft. So, be aware that even new parts may have issues.

For everyone's reference, this is what the finish looks like of a new OEM part.

Thats hilarious that they still send pieces out with this crap on them. Almost like they don't want to stop because they would have to admit it is sticky junk.

I have some concerns with that thread. Surprised no other users have reported it and moderators haven't seen it. As I just posted, I tend to be the only one that cares about the commercial stuff. I'm going to sleep on the shields thread, it has been around 5 months already.

perm ban for F1moving. only a user for 5 months and extensive moderation history of causing problems with prior bans. some users just don't get it and never will. I hate to exclude anyone, but our community has always done well excluding a troublesome minority from ruining it.

    this was just from August...

    PM exchange.

I recently bought the OEM 3 trim pieces for the exterior of the rear window on my 355.
New parts in big yellow/black horsey boxes with the parts tightly wrapped in selophane and packed with fancy Italian tissue paper.

    Guess what?

Two pieces were so gooey that the black crap came off onto your fingers.
    The central piece was perfect.

    What's that all about?
I returned the two nonsense ones and received two perfect replacements (Eurospares).

Goes to prove that going sticky has nothing to do with cleaning with the wrong stuff, nor being in direct sunlight.

Time is all it takes and they turn to mush.
I still bought 3 new ones!
They do feel great when they are factory fresh.

Its heat and humidity that ruins the soft coating.
But it can be made worse by using the wrong cleaners.
This issue is not relegated to Ferrari's.....have cleaned and repainted trim in
vw, bmw and mini coopers as well......the newest car exhibiting 'the sticky' being a 2012 model .

But the good part is that with a spray oven cleaner, a scrub brush or rubbing alcohol (for the switches) the
failed (soft coating) is easily removed.....and with a semi gloss black paint the parts look brand new.

    Hi Rob,

I actually tired a small open end and there is just not alot of room to swing the wrench. Give it a shot though and let me know. I don't have every tool in the book. Just take your time.

    See refinished 3 piece trim:
