    Hi Everyone,

I'm in the market for an FF, leaning towards a new '14 but considering a used '12 for the significant price reduction...

Do you know the model year differences between 2012-2013-2014?

    Thanks,
    G

I don't know of any significant differences, but one may want to be aware that certain driving aid options (rear parking camera, electrochromic mirrors...) became standard on later models.

    Hey Greg
Keep in mind that 2015 models have CarPlay and to an iPhone user it could be quite a worthwhile upgrade.

    Biggest changes: april 2014>
New infotainment system, more rear room with better rear seats, front seat's move forward further for easier entry.
Pan roof a Good but expensive option.
For late 2014 onwards Apple Carplay.

I haven't collected my new FF but expect to feel the benefit of the above upgrades?( let you know in January).

Is it possible to retrofit carplay to a 2012 car?

    Not the Ferrari unit.

In theory you could fit a aftermarket unit but may not be fully compatible.

Theoretically yes, the head unit are exactly the same size. But not sure about the wiring connectors in the back.

The head unit is self contained, CarPlay doesn't operate any other car functions outside of controlling the head unit. There is a USB connector inside the centre console marked CarPlay port, but since it's a standard USB port that connects back to the head unit, I have to imagine the USB ports in the 2012 cars will also work.

My 2015 car's backup camera has a better resolution than my 2013, not sure if it's because the screen is just better or they changed the camera too.

Is Carplay an option on UK cars or standard?

    Thanks

I'd assume CarPlay is an option in all markets.

    CarPlay is a cost option.

I'm also told that the head unit is slightly different so will not fit?

The later cars also have a different antenna system both front and rear.

Thank you all! Decided to get a new model to be able to use all the 'latest and greatest'! Not sure about carplay since I'm a BlackBerry user! :)
