I have one, finally. Just one. I can program it to match your car. PM me if you're interested.
I'm pretty sure Robb has been looking for one. Think he posted looking for one just the other day Steve
It looks like I actually have two. I have a few blacks as well. Just in the interest of full disclosure with the reds, both are used and both have very clean front sides. On the back sides, one has a bit of blackish marks from wear and the other as you can see is lightened a tiny bit because someone had written a number on it with a sharpee and I used a magic eraser to remove the marker. I'll guarantee both to work. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My current stock of blacks. I'm finally finding time to go through what I have. Also, if someone is looking for parts I have a few busted ones where the fronts are cracked and the backs are good. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I found a red fob from a member. You may want to move this thread to the classifieds so that it's not confused with a commercial post without sponsorship. Robb
Ok good to hear. I'm a subscribed member so they let me post when I have these things. Plus I make so little on these nobody would confuse me for a business.
Mark, Can you program this to work as original from the factory or would it be just a red clone of a black fob? Steve
It would be a red copy of any original. The factory red doesn't do anything different than a black after the original dealer/factory programming though.
If you haven't been around the 355 section for a while you might not understand. This has been a disturbing place to say the least. Very sad.
Guys, Mark has been providing a service to the Fchat community for years now. He figured out how to clone this style fob years ago and then bought the last batch of these individual fobs he could find in the country to help the many "one fob owners" out here on Fchat. He cloned fobs for dozens (hundreds?) of Fchatters until his supply ran out at a cost that could only be described as generous. I understand the rules as well an everyone else here and Rob is well aware what Mark has done and occasionally offers again (this thread) is far more of a service to the community than a commercial venture. Turn the dial away from scrutiny and all the way to appreciation on this one guys.
I don't think anyone is trying to bust Mark's balls. It's obvious that many need fob's duplicated. I'm sure he has helped many and will continue to do so. So hats off to him for his ingenuity. I just bought a used fob separately from a different member in the ads to use with new ones from FNA if that is the route to go. 3 new fobs from FNA may not be needed... I don't think anyone in the group wants to lose good resources for parts (like Bruce) or these smaller services. I don't think people know where the line is drawn by the mods or Rob Lay on smaller guys vs sponsors. Getting around the rules irks some, having less rules pleases others. Most don't understand the current policy. Thanks again Mark for the service. Pardon my lack of previous knowledge about your assistance of members. Robb
This only goes to show that there are different rules for different posters. Drbob101 seemed to be one of the most vocal on here about following the rules.....where is he now? Makes one wonder just what is really going on in here. Yes Gobble is helping many on here just as Dave Rocks was but Gobble is making good bucks too, Dave was not. WTF? Dave Rock made thousand of posts helping dozens on here. Gobble has made 277 posts in 4 years helping some on here but mostly himself.
Wow this thread took an interesting turn. For those with their undies in a bundle that I may be profiting off you I make about $50 on each remote. When someone wants two I make about $0 on the second remote. I pay on average $175 for each remote and have to buy supplies like chipquik/solder wick/liquid flux, paypal fees, sometimes Ebay fees, postage, packaging, etc. At any point in time I may have $1000 or more tied up in remotes sitting in my drawer. If I would fry someone's remote or lose it (which I've never done) I'm on the hook for a $2000+ problem. These things sell on Ebay WITHOUT programming for more than I'm asking of you guys. Between the correspondence, questions, programming, shipping, dropping off packages, etc. I spend an hour on each one. If it's a business it's not a very good one. I see one mistake in a comment. Eric in France gets credit for inventing this process. When I bought my car I had the same problem and rather than send my only remote all the way to France I bought the equipment necessary and Eric walked me through the process. He gets all the credit. When I figured this out I posted my success on the forums and people started sending my PM's asking if I could do the same thing for them. I went probably a year of just doing it for free but then a small dealer in TX ran off with $400 of remotes so I decided to start charging a little. Plus people were sending me things like wine and gift cards and coffee mugs with their company name on it so I just figured this was a little easier. If you don't like that I make a little and have helped others save thousands of dollars go spend $900 on a new set from Ferrari and don't bother me. This is far from being a business. I'm a director at a large accounting firm and don't really have the time or need the money. I spend a good week each month traveling, usually outside the US, and fitting these in can sometimes be difficult. I live in Milwaukee and my office is in Chicago. Believe me when I get home from work sometimes the last thing I want to do is fire up the equipment and program a remote, then package it and work up a shipping label. But I promise next day turn around so I always get them done. If I make a little money that helps put gas in my Gallardo so be it.
I personally don't see it as a business. I look at this forum as a bunch of friends getting together to discuss cars. Some friends are great to be around and some are having bad days. If a friend was going to take the time out of their day to run to FedEx and ship something out for you wouldn't you, at some time, return the favor? Buy them lunch while you're in town? If no, then what if along the way he took an hour to install some software on your laptop, would you then spring for lunch? Probably. Can't make it for lunch, send me the bill for $25. Substitute burning firmware into a fob? Same thing. Thanks for helping me out buddy. Maybe one day I can do something for you.
I really have no idea what you guys are talking about. I post here from time to time when I get remotes and the only problem I've had is someone sent me a message once asking me to subscribe, so I did. A guy outside Toronto got my name from Taz a few weeks ago and sold me a few remotes. I'm off work this week so threw them up for grabs. Maybe I'm missing something but sharing information and deals seems like the point of these forums?
You are being dragged into a controversy surrounding the departure/ban of another contributing member recently. I'm relatively new here and I'm not about to take sides (although I do have a strong opinion of what happened) but I just wanted to answer your question. I don't think anyone posting here has anything against you, your service, or your status relative to this board. There are those who feel the aforementioned former member was unfairly attacked and subsequently banned for discussing potentially charging fees for some refinishing services and are using you to demonstrate what some likely feel is a "double standard." Hopefully this won't get out of hand and lead to another loss for the community.
Mark has offered to help me (and my brother) reprogram a fob and provide another, for a couple hundred dollars so we can have an OEM set. This beats going to FNA for $1000 and waiting 3 months. So I'm looking forward to his service and am glad I found out that he can offer that to us. Sorry I was lacking fob knowledge previously. I think mark is a good guy, obviously. I would encourage all of us to send a respectful pm to the mods asking them to clarify their policies on sales and service so we can continue to be positive and helpful. Robb
Good Idea but Im sure they are watching this thread already. My guess it that they don't even know the rules. Dave didn't even sell anything yet and BANG! the hammer came down on him. The problem many here have is that the rules seem to be in constant flux.
I think the lesson has always been the same. Rob is in charge. If you don't like it go play in a different sandbox.
