Alright, who just bet me out of the set of 14" wheels on ebay? I thought that I had it won and with less than a minute to go..................Bam!

Anyone else have any views on the quality of the Falkens
I have a set on my 308 and they seem great (especially for the price) but as they came with the car I don't know better; are the XWX really that good?
I was thinking that I could put a new set of Falkens on every year on the basis that a fresh set would be better than a set of three/four year old XWX's

Well that's a pretty good deal really. I would have thought that even $800 for 4(provided they are Campagnolo's and not Cromodoras or Speedlines) would have been a good price for them. Of course they would then need stripping/crack testing/powdercoating/ and then painting which could easily add another $300-350 for each wheel if done to a high standard. Were they 6.5's or 7.5's?

What's wrong with the Cromos and Speedlines as compared to Campys? Is it quality, weight, the name, rarity, what?

    Ciao!

I really like both 14s and 16s. The 16s have a real performance look and really seem to be the biggest wheel that still looks great on our cars. The 14s still really look fantastic and just scream vintage design...in a good way. Just have both!

    Ciao!

Love that picture. By far the best looking shot of the 14" wheels I have seen.

I think they both look fine, but I lean toward the 16" wheels. Given the large price differential with OEM 16" wheels going for 3x the smaller sizes, so does the market at large. However tastes do change and may swing back to the skinny wheels in time.

At some point I will put new tires on my TRX wheels and run those for a while.

I tend to agree that I like the original look. Did your's originally come equipped with the 7.5 or 6.5? Mine came with 6.5 fronts and 7.5 in the back.

The European carburettor 308s were never supplied ex factory with a 4 pipe exhaust. Please see the parts manual for clarification as I suggested. What happened to the cars after delivery was up to the owner.

A 308 GT/4 exhaust will not fit a 308 GTB/S, same with a 2Vi and Quattrovalvole exhaust (Well it will, but only once)

In the 1970's ANSA began manufacturing an exhaust for the 308 series called a "Sportsystem" and it was a popular upgrade supplied by ANSA, if a little boomy at idle. It was a 4 pipe offering. From memory they made two versions, the Sportsystem and a standard one, but still 4 pipe. The standard version was not a big seller.

As to your last sentence, if you refer again to a "European 4 pipe exhaust" for carburettor 308 GTB/S I will personally ram my ANSA sportsystem so far down your throat you'll never be able to ask the question again! (I think you've asked about it three times now)!!

I know nothing about USA cars apart from the fact they appear to be ugly and heavy.

This is really a subject in itself, the 14" wheels that I have seen so far have been manufactured by:

    Cromodora
    Campagnolo
    Speedline
    BBS.

The BBS version I saw dated 1981 was very heavy, noticeably heavier than the Campagnolo and Cromodora versions. I have seen 4 different versions of 14" wheels dated 1976 however I have only seen these manufactured by Cromodora and Campagnolo. The latter two manufacturers seem to have come later, I am not sure when, late 1970s I guess.
