Let's start a new thread in order to keep this from being buried elsewhere...and hi-jacking that thread.

I just purchased a 550 that has Tan/Beige leather (what is the proper name?) with blue carpets. I am looking for all options that provide some level of storage behind the standard center console. Recommendations?

Johny, you'll see the pictures on my post "456 MGT elbow box".
Mine has been created with a 3D printer.
For your 550 the process would be the same...

Good Idea to start the thread.

I am awaiting delivery of my first Ferrari. 2004 575m and would like to keep it fairly stock but I cannot see how a quality /removable, dare I say, convenience item would be a problem.

I also thought I saw reference to a factory option console in another thread?

Yes - there are/were factory options for both the 550 and 575 - but I know nothing more regarding their availability. That's why I started the thread....

Was standard on the 575 SA.
Open storage tray behind center console.

It works great as an armrest, I had the height made the same as the armrest on the door.

The console also works great for storing all kinds of stuff.

I was asked to repost this on this thread.

    Cheers,

    Bill

Below my photos is what Ferrari came up with, to my mind it's completely useless.

I took these photos from another thread, Terry posted them.

Hope you don't mind Terry just wanted to show the difference.

The factory piece looks as nicely designed as you'd expect, but appears useless as an armrest and of limited utility as a storage/convenience space.

I agree and I think it was an $800 option.

    Cheers

Really like your setup, Bill. 550s should have come that way.

Thanks Tom, I drive to Vegas every month and I can't tell you how nice it is to have a place to rest your arm.

    Cheers,

    Bill

My wife went to the dollar store and brought me a universal tray for any car with a tunnel. Yes, it looks cheap because is was but works very well. I care less about appearance and only if it works. I have used it for 10 - 12 years.

    Hi Bill
Can you post the details as to what it would take to order the same as you had made? Perhaps we may generate some "volume" and get these at a reasonable price.
Or....do you have prints or sketches of your design, so others could source something like this locally?

I don't, I gave everything to the guy who made mine because he was making several for other guys on Ferrari chat.

(My son did all the measurements and woodwork)

As soon as I'm able to reach him I will find out the cost and post it along with his information.

Have to check with him first to see if it's okay.

    Cheers,

    Bill

$254 in black leather for the body from one of the UK suppliers, did not check the cover piece price. Note they were for RHD only (GD=guida destra). Not sure if the consoles are different back there or not.

OK for those of you who were interested.

Here are all the pictures from beginning to end as I said my son did woodwork.

To have one made from scratch the cost is $900.00

You can contact the gentleman directly who did my leather work and has made a few for other F-chat members.

Great pix! Do you have dimensions per chance? Also, how does the top secure to the base?
