The 2,800-mile Countach LP500S 12645 continues its sympathetic refurb under the watchful eye of none other than Valentino Balboni in Italy, it'll be home soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's what I'm talking about, but no one that I know has one. Those things are as rare as hen's teeth these days. Michael do you own that beauty? I'll probably address it again in the spring.
YES, we just used it to dial in the Bianco Pearlato car. The carbs are half of the battle....Ignition system must be in top shape and properly set up to make it sing. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Joe, is the owner going to use this car? I suspect a lot of its value will be tied up in the low miles. Best Rob
That is the plan, per its refurbishment. I'm not sure he is concerned abut values, I think he wanted to get a pristine example and take care of it from there.
Hope the picture link works. This is my 1984, 13k KM. Was off the road for too long, she is no longer slumbering, rebuilt countless things also NOS Pirelli P7 and repainted the wheels their original gold Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ah oh, you mentioned "repainted" "gold" "wheels" in the same sentence. Hurry, run, hide! Here comes a thousand questions. lol
Nice car. What color brand and color code did you use for your gold OZ wheels? Since you mention it's the original gold color, did you get the paint from OZ or OZ Racing?
hi Jollygood if it helps the gold colour is mentioned here as Glassurit F101 C Countach - PistonHeads and the rest of the site is also well worth a good read.
I will add this code to the Gold Wheel Paint thread I started. Also, I have been given a gold paint code that has been used on an SV and Countach that I will post there too. Hopefully this help some owners. Comparing might be fun.
Most posts of the Countach of late have been related to value, of which I am as guilty as anyone. We must all remember what drew us to these cars in the first place and a rise in value (if any) is lagniappe, while a decrease in value, well just a cost of membership. I ask that those with special insight, knowledge, and history related to the Countach continue to share their wealth of knowledge to those of us with the desire to learn as much as possible about the car we love. I look at threads like the 930 Turbo Carrera thread as a great example. Please continue to share! Thanks!!
"I ask that those with special insight, knowledge, and history related to the Countach continue to share their wealth of knowledge" +1. As Joe made the point with the 2015 SCM, the issue with collectors is that it seems the price rise has attracted a lot of uniformed people from all sides. Some publication such the SCM adds a lot of confusion as well. I dont know about auction houses but as professionals, I would hope they promote the right information but that appears wishful thinking too. At the end we are left on our own here to shre the real truth and even that we have to sort out thru the special interests. for me, The price rise of Countach is both a source of satisfaction and anxiety. Satistfaction because one is always happy to realize one made the right call from the heart and see a financial benefit on paper, like buying the right home you liked. Anxiety because as we are reaching the 700-800K for the late carb car, It is hard to look at the car the same way or use it the same way. it is just the way it is when the value becomes significant for you. You drive it a bit less, a bit less agressvely and you are more paranoid on the road. For a 5 or 6 digit millionaire or billionaire it would not matter but again with that money we would not talk on these boards. We would pay someone to handle the details.
