I agree. This chap, whoever he is, keeps on claiming that he's close to the family, and family friend, etc. It's sad when this kinda inidividual exists and keep on saying false things. Just let the Schumachers be alone. I don't see how the speculation about the crutches, etc, is going to make things better..

We have no idea what motor centers of the brain were affected. His spine might be ok but damage in the brain may also preclude movement. Stroke patients can be movement limited.

For what it is worth...official denial yesterday in "Le Monde", translated by myself.

Philippe Streiff states that his knowledge comes “mainly thanks to Professor [Gerard] Saillant, President of the FIA Medical Commission, and a close friend of Michael Schumacher".

Professor Saillant has strongly denied this, on Sunday evening: “for a year I did not have had any contact whatsoever, be it verbal, or written, with Philippe Streiff (…) for a year, neither the family, nor the real friends of Michael have given any communication at all outside Sabine’s [Kehm, official Schumacher family speaker] communiqués. Any journalist whomsoever can testify that, as for myself, I have always and steadfastly refused any interview, written or on TV”.

Sabine Kehm has confirmed Professor Saillant’s statements: “Mr Streiff has no contact with us, and has never had any. I don’t know from where he holds these informations”.
“It must be observed that is is becoming an habit from Philippe Streiff”, has also added Professor Saillant, “as he already had made the same type of statements in Grenoble, quoting me, a few days after Michael’s accident”

Kind thanks for your accurate translations as usual. It's typical media business as usual then unless Sabine says anything factual. It's seems we hear things occasionally from those who visit with him such as what Todt stated a few months ago, but they are of course very vague statements. I guess all we can do is wait.

I don't understand why anyone would keep sponsoring him.

The happiest wish for Michael is to be at peace. 1 year after a fatal accident on various forms of life support is not peace.

Assuming this accident didn't happen, they would definitely keep sponsoring him. Niki Lauda still uses his red cap for sponsorship.

However, perhaps most of them are still sticking with him probably because it's friendship and not a business point of view..

True but sticking with him does generate a lot of good will among his fans.

    A 'fatal' accident?

    'Various forms of life support'?

Are you his treating physician? Do you know his current condition?

IIRC, you wanted to pull his plug months back. Maybe, just maybe, his wife & family know a little more than you about what Michael wants and what constitutes peace in his life.

Hopefully, he's communicating (as speculated by some) and wants to continue fighting rather than having the 110v pulled out as you seem to want for him. With zero knowledge. :(

    Godspeed Michael,
    Ian

MS died in the helicopter and had to be resuscitated. So calling this a fatal accident is not wrong. Thereafter he went on life support. Those are known facts.

I imagine if he is on life support the decision will be forced upon the family as sponsors pull out and the funds start drying up ... sad but possibly the determining factor?

A fatal accident is fatal. There's no 'unfatal', fatal accidents. Medics work magic to avoid accidents being fatal all the time.

Dead is dead. You don't get resuscitated from being dead. You can however be resuscitated if you're close to death.

As to what 'life support' he is currently dependent upon, we simply don't know.

    Godspeed Michael

BTW: What happened to the fact finding sleuths who until now condemned any bit of news re: MS health as pure speculation. Only the gospel from Sabine Kehm was the gold standard. Did that suddenly change?

Not that I'm really doubting the article, just saying. If Streiff had made these comments....

From all indications there is still hope for an improvement in Michael's quality of life.

As long as there is hope we should be happy for him.
