BTW I do know I didn't harp on about how bad a driver Nico was, but we all know why you rate Nico highly, and that makes me laugh.

 

Do I rate Nico highly? Where have I said that? I just think he's about the same level as Lewis, give or take a bit. Whether or not that rates him highly is you just trying to read between the lines.

 

The spa thing can be debated till the end of time. Lewis assumed Rosberg was a lamb and cut him off, right at the time Rosberg decided he wasn't a lamb and held ground.

I seem to remember Rosberg having to fight his way from last to 2nd as well, on a street track no less (yes, he outbraked himself in T1).

This is not a debate whether Lewis was worthy of his title or not, he is, because he simply did drive better. No one is debating that. I'm debating the fact that someone claims that Rosberg's car was much more reliable, which it wasn't. Only a tiny amount.

 

The reason the disparity existed was because coming Into the final race it was 5-2 in the reliability stakes. 3 DNF lewis and 2 for nico as well as lewis starting at the back in 2 races and achieving a mediocre finish. After Abu dhabi was a good 70-80 point difference which is what it would've have been had they both had equal reliability.

So yes in the end it worked out okay but coming Into Abu dhabi the only reason nico was in the running was a) by virtue of the double points farce which he won't be able to rely on this year and b) unequal reliability.

This year the title will be locked up ️earlier imo unless nico improves on his weaknesses.

IF you want to count Canada in nicos reliability score then you must also count Italy for lewis where for the first 5 laps he had an issue and dropped to 5th from 1st in the beginning and had to fight his way back and due to nicos poor driving that race managed to win. I think in Canada if lewis were in nicos position he may have won given he is a much more aggressive defender (see his performance vs nico in Bahrain when the safety car caught him out on the inferior tire and he managed to hold nico behind on tires 1 -1.5 sec a lap quicker on a track with ample passing opportunities. Many experts were astonished by his display and couldn't Believr how he managed to do it).

 

Huh ..Well if you rate Nico on the same level as Lewis then that rates him very high, you answered your own question, other than that I'll agree to disagree.... how bizarre..

When Lewis realized it mattered not if he was not sitting on pole, and blitzed passed Nico on more than one occasion off the start line, Nico developed a severe case of red mist at Spa, and then committed the cardinal sin of throwing caution to wind, with a coming ready or not attitude and took him out, he was rattled, then the Merc top brass had to then step in, and it was game over, the best man won.

 

They are called common sense glasses, not that you would know about such things.

My belief is that Lewis is about as good as MS was in his 40s, based on his performance against Nico.

I don't know if that makes Nico or Lewis anything other than as good as someone well past their prime.

In fact, in MS' last year, when both cars finished the races, MS scored more points than Nico, just like Lewis, as you've SO OFTEN pointed out, which further proves my point that Lewis is just an average F1 driver because tif12, who's never wrong, said MS was past it and no good and Nico was just a midfielder. Beating Nico obviously doesn't make Lewis very good. Sorry about that.

Nico clearly thrashed him and obviously Schumacher dropped in form but After only 3 years off it wouldn't have been that drastic. Imo he was dropping in form 05-06 too
