LaFerrari looks iconic from the very first time you see it.
When you see 918 it's wow! - Nice engineering, quite a nice car. At P1 - wow! Looks exotic, sporty, like runners for jogging.
When you see the shapes of LaFerrari, it!s wooow! It's the Ferrari ! Nothing else in the world could look like this but the Ferrari.

cliche but it's true, beauty is in the eyes of beholders. for those who think laferrari is ugly, we will have to agree to disagree.

but from my personal experience recently in s.f. seeing teynor's cars and the 918, laferrari clearly stood out as the best looking car. i like the p1 too but the 918 seems a bit big for me.

meh .. I think the hybrid system works pretty damn well. I don't need some journalist that is all too click happy on the paddles and spends a few hours in the car to tell me what *they* think. I can just drive it for myself 24x7.

The P1 performs huge smoky drifts at virtually any turn at insane speeds without any hesitation so again I say the hybrid system is working very well. Went through 3 tanks of fuel never ran out of battery. not even close

At 170+ mph the car was still pulling strong so yes the big turbos are definitely working well. Didn't feel that brick wall at 160 like some 918 guys reported.

I could see having more electric low-end torque just for grins but not at the expense of more weight or AWD. I have that in my 991 turbo S and its a great DD esp in the snow/ice but not my preference for fun weekend driving. It may in fact have more grip but not what I'd consider fun to drive in the same category as the P1. to each their own I guess

Dimensionally, isn't the LaF the biggest of the three? The LaF looks supremely sexy from the back, IMO!

on paper yes the length and the width of laferrari makes it seems big. but in reality the dimensional numbers don't explain how sculpted the car various parts are. the cockpit of laferrari is the smallest of the 3 (purely from observation though). the overall height of laferrari( front, rear wheel arches and the cockpit height) makes it look more compact than its numbers suggested. the overhang problem that people whined about when the car first launched was minimal in my opinion ( of course the driver might have a different opinion on that), but it is not as exaggerated as it seemed in photo.

the p1 is also compact looking in comparison to 918. the wheel arches of 918 is monstrous, which isn't a bad thing at all. just less compact. and the overall mass of the car looks to be the most beefy one out of all 3.

and i must say p1 also looks a lot better in person.

Beauty is not in the eyes of the beholder, that's an excuse people with bad taste use. Beauty has always been about correct proportions, LaFerrari simply doesn't have them.

I don't think your observation concluded the correct result.

My experience is that the 918 has smallest, and more-importantly, least comfortable, cockpit of the three. I've driven the 918 and P1 and only sat in the LaFerrari.

The LaFerrari seats are the most comfortable of the three. The cockpit layout is really nice and it feels quite roomy compared to 918. It's the easiest to get in and out of between the three cars because a decent-sized piece of the roof is built into the door so you can easily drop in and out without too much crouching. Also the door opens up and forward in a butterfly style. The 918 is (by far) the worst of the three for ingress and egress because it has conventional doors, that don't seem to open widely enough, and high sills. It is also has the most cramped cockpit and least comfortable driving position of the three.

The P1 has butterfly-style doors (technically they're "dihedral") similar to LaFerrari but no roof opening so it's in between the other two in terms of ingress/egress. The 918 gets easier to get in/out of when the roof panels are off but you lose nearly all your trunk space when you stow them in it so you won't be taking it a long distance that way.

My P1 is being delivered this morning so I'll have more recent impressions in about 2 hours :)

Oddly, I was the exact opposite. I thought LaF a bit disjointed aesthetically until I saw one in person at the Wynn in Vegas...T

I thought LaFerrari was a stunner from the moment I saw it. Its even more appealing to me right now.

I didn't realize I was a person with no taste. My 25+ year career as an artist and Creative Director must surely be a mistake.

    I feel awful.....

    hi mark,

my comment was made solely based on impression from distance ( the car shows sectioned up the area where the 3 hybrids parked so that i can only write what i thought looking at them at from about 10 ft away) i have no doubt that your first hand impression about the cockpit of each cars are far far more accurate than my observation from a distance ( in fact i really appreciate your report on the car a couple months back, and i take your words with high regard as you seem to be the one of the very few unbiased owners who happens to own p1 :)). i just think laferrari's cockpit is the smallest 'looking' with its wide body. and 918 has that 'modern car bulkiness' that i found it some what absent in both laferrari and p1.

and i can't wait to hear from your report on driving p1.

LaFerrari proportions are off because they attempt to merge classic curves with Formula 1 design cues. I honestly can't wait to see what comes out of the company after they finally ditch all the F1 nonsense in the road cars.

This is most evident in the front of LaF, where the tribute to the F1 nose is obvious. The 458 Italia was a pretty car because they did a great job at hiding the aerodynamics.

    It's a strange looking car.

My 0.02: The Porsche's strength are all the details, e.g. in the exhaust area; the overall Porsche design is a little too conservative and, in the front, reminds a bit of the Ferrari 360; the LaFerrari appears to be quite colour sensitive; personally, I very much like it in white, silver and blue, not so much in red and yellow; the McLaren has a gorgeous rear.

Quite correct about the 918 having the smallest interior space, the seats are also a bit too upright for street driving. P1's is quite a bit roomier as it is the 12C's cockpit and that one is very comfortable.

I found the 918 seats to be passable for street driving but I think it would problematic for track driving. When you have a helmet on the headrest forces your head forward in an unnatural position. I can't imagine how you could possibly handle a HANS device.

Roomier yes but it's not the 12C's cockpit at all. I had two 12C Spiders previously and I have a 650S now (same interior as 12C) so I'm very familiar with the 12C cockpit. I think what you're trying to say (and others have implied) is that the cabin is taken from the 12C which it is not. I believe they share the same underlying carbon tub design but the roof section, A-pilars, windscreen, windows, rear wall, dash, steering wheel, center console, cup holders and doors are bespoke to the P1. It does share some of the switchgear and the AC vents although the AC system itself has a different layout (4 vents instead of 3 & aimed differently) to the 12C/650S.

Here's a picture of the interior of my new P1. P.S. I'm LOVING it!

    The P1 has arrived!

Sorry I didn't post earlier but I was out playing with the car for most of the day. I put over 130 miles on it today and every one was truly enjoyable. The P1 is just amazing.

I'm still getting to know it and it's supposed to be cold and rainy most of this week so I probably won't get to drive it too much. Rainy weather is FF weather!

    Here are some pictures.

Really great spec you have there Mark. A bit of laquer on the centre console gives it a much more luxiorious appearance.
