It would have to be something that would change my life style. (Interpretation, a nice winter town home is south FL. )
Even as old as I now am, I honestly do not think I could sell. My wife say's there is no way that I would ever part with my 308 while I still have breath in me. I wonder what she will do with it when I'm gone?
I'd take 70k USD for my '89 328 R/T GTS with a bit over 32k miles. HOWEVER, the boss of me says I won't… Yes, it's my car, paid for with my money, but the car and the wife are both Italian and they stick together. I don't mind pissing the car off but the wife? That's a whole different deal!
I think I'd let my '85 GTS QV with 44k miles go for $75k only. I love my care and wouldn't consider letting her go for anything less.
In Principle, i think i could be persuaded to part with my RHD 77 GTB dry sump , for a low miles RHD 360 Challenge Stradale ...... but only if that were to happen in the next 2-3 months. After that all bets are off! BR, Jez
How do you put a value on a dream -- something you set your heart on and worked hard to attain? It would have to be silly amounts of money to get me to let her go, because it isn't just money that's at work here.
Not that I know anything at all about markets blah blah blah I have long been suspicious of those who claim these cars will never be worth anything more than the $ 25K - $ 40K range they've resided in the past few years. I just don't buy it . . . and could I have started playing this game ten years ago with the foresight to buy a 246 Dino, I'd have my price one hundred fold. I'd also contend that there is a large segment of the "market" that miss the very technology that our cars have in quantity: Nothing.
I got an 85 Euro in A+ condition for only $27 two years ago, but now I have a TR and I have more passion for the TR than the 308; having said that it would still take stupid money to get the 308 away from me.
If you have a high quality 308 or 328, and you really want to sell, please keep me in mind. I specialize in these cars, and I'm always looking for quality examples. Yes, I'm a dealer, but I won't waste your time with ridiculous wholesale offers. I know what these cars are worth.
Yes, and you can't buy that 'quantity' of technology in anything today. Real gauges, real steering wheel with no puffy plastic center (love the 355, but why the minivan steering wheel?), real steering, brakes that you operate directly, real exhaust sound, manually adjusted seats... people forget how fun it was to actually drive.
I know exactly what you are saying, but if i were to let the 77 carb go, then i would want something fun, raw noisy and exclusive by means of compensation ..... interesting thread, though that puts the emphasis on emotional value, rather than the pure price tag onto these cars. Few seem ready to 'let go'! BR, Jez
LOL no doubt. Guessing it took the designers a few years to figure out what to do with the introduction of airbags
Allthough I'm still enjoying the 308 too much right now, I'll play: 150k euro would get me interested. That's about double what I could realistically sell it for right now, judging from unsollicited estimates by two expert parties. Why 150k? because for that kind of money I could find better uses (a house) and can still buy back a fun car, like a Mondial or a Porsche 944. But it would still be a difficult decision and not a foregone conclusion.
Me too. 77 Dry Sump in very slightly ratty running and complete condition. Would only trade up for a complete but rattier Dry Sump VR. Or enough to buy the same...$120K? Finding a Dry Sump GTB in the US was a hunt. Would take a lot to part with it as restoring a GTB is a bucket list item for me! Ciao! Hannibal
I must be the only one who likes it! 3x8 wheel certainly looks better but I don't think the 355 wheel looks out of place. Some put a non airbag wheel or a 360 wheel in them and while the wheel itself looks better, doesn't really match the rest of the interior imo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
