Other similar threads have not been made stickies... they just bump or descend as interest waxes & wanes - why this one?

That's the funny thing about this thread - nobody has actually beat up on the car itself. Other than a few very legitimate comments about the impact of a salvage title on value, comments have been positive about the car.

The car is what it is and is worth something. We just have to know what it is.

Given the length of the thread I may have missed it but do we know exactly what the damage was?

Yes anyone really following this thread has a very good understanding of the damage.
It just hasn't been described in detail to some likings. No pictures. :( of the damage.

Its probably not the same car, but a few years ago there was a 348 in Marin that some guys wife had taken a golf club or hammer to, and I mean not a few taps but really thrashed it up. The service manager at Marin Honda had the car, and was thinking of fixing it up. It might have been an axe...

300 raffle tickets @ 100 dollars each gives you your asking price, gives 300 people the chance to own a really nice car and puts this thread to rest. As a bonus include the entire thread printed and in a binder to the winner! Come on let's do this.

Don't take your raffle ticket into the shower with you to sing though...It'll get soggy, then it's void. But seriously, I'm in, let's do this! :)

I've followed the thread, and I disagree - there has never been any real description of the damage that resulted in a salvage title. Just attempts at humour suggesting the damage involved a golf club, then one vague explanation that the club was not the type held in your hands, but the kind that requires membership.

If you have more information, please elaborate - I wish someone would!

There has to be a reputable Ferrari dealer or repair shop that could maybe handle this. If the tickets are purchased, no matter from who, and are put in a big tub with the winner drawn I think that would be really cool. I could understand some concerns with the raffle being run in a legitimate manner but I think there has to be a way to keep it honest. I have sent rather large amounts of money to people in recent years with no guarantees and have never been disappointed. I have also spent over a hundred dollars at a very respectable Gentlemans club with nothing to show for it with no regrets. I'm in!!!!!

Does anyone belong to a car club that has a non profit status? If so maybe that club can hold the raffle and charge $100 per ticket with a total of 300 tickets available. Etc etc the point is give the car owner $28k for the car and leave $2000 for the car club to donate to charity. Get my drift? One can work the numbers anyway that it best fits. Best of all it should not violate f-chats rules (I think).

The only problem I see is if not enough tickets can be sold then the money will have to be returned. This can be done but it will require much work and organization.

Who is up to the task lol

F-Chat is a TX-based business... please reference the link that posted earlier, as to who may legally conduct a raffle in said state. If you guys want to make sure Rob doesn't get in any trouble, you need to conduct any raffles that aren't run by a 100% legit and qualified charitable nonprofit off-site - even if he doesn't make any money off the raffle, he could run into issues simply by hosting & therefore tacitly/passively condoning it.

IOW, you need to run this by Rob & see what he thinks. If raffles were a legitimate & legal method of retail sale for profit, you'd be seeing 1,000x $10 tickets on sale for every big-screen TV at Best Buy.

That would be something.. All done according to state laws/rules, the winning ticket 100% fair drawn in front of witnesses/a solicitor, and then Tom getting the winning ticket...

Would history then once more (start to) repeat itself ??
