Speaking of delivery, if you picked up the car @ the factory, everything was ready to go!

Great heritage image with 3.6 RS in company of 2.7 RS.

Thanks Joe.... I assumed it was just missing the spoiler, but I'd never seen one without it. And that extra piece on the side threw me... Makes sense now.

Bill happy to discuss publicly, I think that the noted estimate is fair for a PTS car, and Gooding is renowned for realistic estimates, so I look for something within that.

Talk about "lost in translation"! I think Richard Ingram needs to re-work this piece.

When Hatz said the 991 GT3 RS "will get a brand-new, naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine", he meant THE brand-new engine, à la 991 GT3's replacement engines. The engine for the car is already programmed-in and has been tested for over a year!

When Hatz said that the RS will be "PDK-only to begin with, but that a manual hasn’t been ruled out in the long term", that's because Porsche never "rule out" anything (!), but conversely its not on the cards either, for the simple reason that Porsche Ag will not go backwards with a state-of-the-art sports car aimed at fast lap-times. This I have on good authority from my own sources...

In short, the article was simply good for entertainment value & a bit of marketing, but nothing new was learned!

agree on the PDK/manual, but let the kiddies dream :)

I think what he meant re: the engine is an 'even better" version of the 9A1 from the standard GT3...not only bigger (rumor consensus has it at 4.0 liters), but with some better bits, pieces and QC than the first GT3s had...

the other rumor is that the RS will have a KERS system of some form.

    Agreed !!
Having worked in corporate America for 35 years, "all new" def has a different meaning .... new airbox +200cc (to 4.0) and voila ! new engine.

The guys on Rennlist are wetting their pants over this one.....turbocharged/supercharged/KERS/electric hybrid, etc. As if Porsche is going to develop ANOTHER new GT3 engine for a car with production of less than 1000 ??

I may be wrong on this, but my guess is "all new" means "new & improved" 991 GT3 engine (e.g., 4.0 with a purdy new airbox).

I think more than one journalist has learned that keeping the manual gearbox dream alive is an easy way to sell copy!

Gooding estimate is $250-325k (minus premium).

1500 miles. there's a few similar mileage cars in white/gray/etc for $184-195k advertised in various places.

signal green (by my quick look at the registry, one of two 2011s in that color, and the only one with DZM...which makes the other one the only one without DZM ;)) so yes, a rare spec.

the question becomes, does that spec add $65-140k to the car's value? IMO, no. but a hot car at the right auction can do some funny things. we shall see shortly...

Unfortunately, poorly-researched or translated copy has become the modus operandi for blogs, forums and magazines (and its not just restricted to automotive journalists) so you have to take it all with a grain of salt and a touch of independent corroboration.
