so where do things stand now? where will things be after this weekend?
cut him some slack ! he was answering a mail i sent him earlier. but the question remains open to the forum !
Quick question if I may - are Classiche certified examples fetching higher prices than those without? I'm looking into whether it's a worthwhile investment or not.
It depends? How much is it going to cost you? I've seen Classiche and non Classiche cars fetch the same money.
I think it's a nice to have but not imperative with a car that is comparatively modern which is likely to have all the original bits and pieces. A quick inspection by someone that knows what they are doing can check for that. If you own one you should definitely get it done as the cost is tiny compared to the value of the car. If you are buying, condition, service history etc are more important in my opinion.
If you mean the cost of the classiche is a worthwhile investment, they I would say definitely yes. If the day comes when you really need to sell the car and there is an identical car to yours that has the classiche, it will sell first.
Good question, I don't remember exactly, but having your dealer fill out the pack is pretty easy, they need the car for a couple of days. I don't think there is much to take apart for the pictures of the F40. The file then goes to the factory and they meet monthly (except in the summer of course), so you will generally make the meeting the following month and once approved they send you the binder. So start to finish maybe it's 2/3 months but you are only without the car for a day or two.
The certification of my 212 export took 12 months. After 8 or so I got approval but it took 4 months more to get the actual book. My F40 was with the certification, but I understood from the previous owner that it was indeed a couple of months. So great difference in type of car but a F40 is actually pretty easy. I got mine with Tubi exhaust. The 212 export exhaust was not original......(3x2 iso 6x1). It was since 1957 on the car. When I sold the car the red book was essential (212), for me the F40 with certification was nice to have but not essential. BTW, been contacted to sell the car for almost double in a year....
