I honestly think he thinks Ferraris are just to pedestrian. On his YouTube channel you can see which cars he likes: American muscle, anything mechanically complex, race cars. Like Sienfeld, he has tons of money, but his choice of car simply does not include Ferrari.

Case in point he did a special Corvette panel on his show with an original Stingray racer that was worth over 10 million. He noted that he would buy it if GM would sell it to him, of which they refused. Yet when he drove the 3 million dollar Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (with $480k + optional paint finish!) He just went on how absurdly expensive it was.

Seinfeld is no different. Most of his Porsches he features on his Comedians in Cars getting Coffee show are worth well north of 1 million. Yet the only Ferrari he brings on the show (A Daytona GTB/4 ) he pans immediately and it breaks down.

Jay is a great guy in my book. We fill up at the same gas station and my wife or I see him around the neighborhood regularly. He always friendly and takes time to chat with people that ask about his cars.

Yeah, Jay seems to have a serious hatred of this Ferrari  : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WciLAb4Ni4s

It's not his car but he seems to appreciate it as being something special.

That car is GORGEOUS!! You can't be a car guy, regardless of brand loyalty, and not appreciate that car as a four wheeled piece of art. Thank you for posting...T

I guess there is no accounting for taste, but other than David Letterman and Howard Stern, he sure seems like a nice guy and most speak favorably of him.

I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that your either drinking and having a great time or that you have come to terms with the fact that your opinion will be a very solitary one.

Just a best guess. Good look on yoru search for an F40 and your small block Chevy swap-plan.

I like Jay better than the copycat of Harry Metcalfe. Who couldn't keep up with the car payments of his former Pagani, and end up transferring it to another guy!!!!

I love it that they take it out and drive it around LA. Car is probably worth 30 mil, one of a kind - yet Jay is out on the road going through the gears.

    That's what's really awesome.

While I'll admit that it's a cool ride, it's honestly not valued at anywhere near that amount.

Even so, spotting a unique 7-figure car out in the wild will always be something special. Of course, getting a ride in one is even better. And being handed the keys to one - unforgettable!

    Agreed!

Any Bugatti Leno rolls around in would be the ticket for me. Or maybe a Duesy... Keep in mind he said, on the recent Bugatti segment of his show, that California gas goes flat after two months or so. They all get driven, and I would be more than happy to help out. I read that something like 300 of his 350 million dollar wealth is in his collection. Good ratio for a true enthusiast.

Actually he pays for all his cars solely with his standup money. His 400MM+ from the late show etc is not touched. :D

    "Kinetic art".

I like Jay. He may not own a Ferrari, but he's a classy car guy.

It's interesting to read how people cannot understand why Jay Leno doesn't own a Ferrari when he claims to be a car guy.

I consider myself to be a car guy and have often dreamed of which cars would be in My (extensive) collection of cars if I won the big Euro lottery jackpot.

Along with a large collection of Ferrari's, there would also be some BMW's, various classic cars, various TV and movie cars (a Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino, a Mad Max '73 Ford Falcon, Christine - a '58 Plymouth Fury , a General Lee, Nash bridges 'Cuda, a '68 Bullitt Mustang, a Smokey and the Bandit '77 Trans Am, a McQ '73 Brewster Green Trans Am, '74 Dodge Monaco Bluesmobile etc., etc. to name but a few), and other cars that I've always liked.

However, there would be no Porsche's or Lamborghini's as they do nothing for Me. Both companies make some very interesting and exciting cars, but I wouldn't own one of them because I'm just not interested in them.

Because of this, I can appreciate that it's probably a similar situation for Jay Leno and Ferrari's. Whilst he appreciates that they have made some great cars (and still do), he doesn't feel a need to own one.

    What?

Harry Metcalfe and Jay Leno are completely opposite ends of the spectrum. One is a comedian, the other and the other, a journalist. One has a Ferrari, the other does not.

    One's a comedian, the other's a farmer... Both have previously owned a 550.
