Can someone recommend the brand of clear bra and recommend someone close to Santa Monica, CA? Any of you guys wrapping your whole car? thanks!
If you can drive to Orange County, I just had my Mercedes Benz G63 done at Ultimateshield in Orange. I drove 100 miles to get there. This is my first time at his shop but my fourth clear bra application (different vehicles at other shops). Had the full front clip done. Somewhat difficult car to do as it has a brush guard and lots of angles and body moulding. Sean and his crew did an outstanding job. I am very pleased with their work. Sean is a great guy and he has a nice clean shop. I won't use anyone else now. Randy.
I had my Lotus fully wrapped at Protective Film Solutions in Santa Ana last fall... they're the ones that wrapped Leno's Mclaren... I'm very pleased with the job they did and they picked my car up and delivered it back via flatbed... very professional. Protective Film Solutions
As others have mentioned on the thread, Protective Film Solutions does incredible work and will absolutely treat you right. That said, we have a lot of other installers in your area. XPEL Locator - XPEL PPF and Clear Bra Installers in Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana, California, United States It's also important to note that not all paint protection films are created equal. As proud sponsors of FerrariChat and the Ferrari Club of America we want to make sure that you receive the very best in paint protection film. Has anyone used Glistening Perfection?? Southern Californias Premier Auto Detailing Porsche Detailing - Ferrari Detailing - Lamborghini Detailing thanks ji
Advanced Auto Engineering...Scott does a phenomenal job. He uses Xpel and he is also mobile. He clear bra'd my whole CGT and my AM V12VS. Sent from my 16M
What's a clear bra run these days? Valentine's Day is coming up and I'm inspired. Seriously, though... Any range of pricing we could mention in the thread would be cool to know for comparison. Chips suck in custom paint jobs. Worse if you have candied carbon fiber Bugatti, which could never be perfectly matched again.
Hello, I'll be happy to provide countrywide averages for XPEL ULTIMATE installations. People usually pick between two packages. 1) Partial front end. This package includes 18-24" up the hood and fenders. Entire front bumper, mirrors and sometimes headlights. This averages $795-995. 2) Full front end. This package covers the entire front clip. Full hood, fenders, front bumper, mirrors and sometimes headlights. This averages $1795-1995.
Thank you for the breakdown. Is there any possible affect on the paint at some point when removed and how much will it help the paint from little freeway chips? My chips occur on the lower front end and don't seem to have problem with hood. How can we see how it "looks" on a wet sanded/flat custom paint job?
depending on the film type, you will have different looks. 3m has most orange peel look xpel has less orange peel, but still textured suntek is most optically clear Warranties: 3m has a 7 yr xpel has a 10 yr suntek has a 5 yr Why does a long warranty not matter? Well, if you leave the film on the car for 10 years, its going to be a pain to remove, no matter what. It is highly recommended that the film is removed at the 5 year mark at most. This give you a chance to re-polish the car and reapply a new film. Ive pulled film off 7 year old cars parked outside 24/7 and it came off in tiny pieces the whole time. I did a 15 year old clear bra that took 24 hours total to remove (should have repainted instead IMO), and I have pulled 4 year old film off in 30 minutes... Suntek has the lowest adhesion strength, and for a good reason. Its easier to remove when the time comes without pulling paint. Strong adhesion, or use of promoter as a lot of shops use will cause issues the longer it is on the paint. This isnt to say it WILL pull paint, but there is a greater chance of it the stronger the bond. This isnt saying the suntek will just fall off, just that its easier to remove more cleanly, especially on a repaint. There are methods to reduce the risk of pulling paint as well using steam, hot water, hot temps, etc. My vote, and the order I recommend in my shop: 1- Suntek for clarity and easy of use and its cheaper price point 2- Xpel for the name because everyone knows of it, carries a higher price point 3- 3m, I dont like it at all (the new stuff is supposed to be amazing, but I have it on a demo hood and its much more textured and shows stretch lines very easily. Its side by side with suntek.) They will all protect the same as they are all about 8mils thick, 2 for the adhesive, 6 for the film, all are self healing to a certain degree via heat.
Good options... I definitely prefer the easiest one to remove in larger sizes. Nothing like a new bra on Valentine's Day.
AutoSkinz in Valencia just did my newly acquired Aston Martin.Ask for Shonna or Greg the owner. They do a very good job and their work is clean.
My car is going down to Sean (Ultimate Shield) tomorrow to remove and re-install a new clear bra. Sean is bending over backwards to accommodate my crazy schedule. This will be my 3rd bra with Ultimate Shield.
Auto skin just did my F355 as well with XPEL. I highly recommend them. They treat you like you're part of the family and have one of the nicest and cleanest shops I've ever been in. They really take their time and do it right. It's a high end place where they don't charge high end prices. I already am planning to do three more cars there.
I just spend last weekend pulling off the clear bra off my Carrera GT. It took me about 6 hours (I was going quite slow using a hair dryer). It's a bit nerve racking when you get to a section where you have to pull just a bit harder thinking the paint my lift. But, in taking my time and going very slow, it all came off perfectly. Do the hood before the fenders (you will be leaning on the fenders to get the hood done). I took lots of long hour breaks as to not get too impatient... Now, I must find someone to do the entire front, mirrors, headlights, etc. I'm going with Suntek after reading this forum.
Just wanted to give a big thanks to Sean and his crew at Ultimate Shield. Another perfect job! Wrapped the front fenders, bumper, hood, A-pillars, rocker panels, lower door, back of mirrors and rear wheel wells. Not a crease or imperfection anywhere! Thank you!
My new C7 corvette is going down to Sean (Ultimate Shield) tomorrow to install a new xpel ultimate clear bra.
