Damn I was wrong again lmao

Not so wishful now at 260 hammer, giving 286 all in. Curious to see who bought it as a guy contacted me recently saying he had a $280k budget for the right red stripe CS.

    From Puerto Rico

    Sad, really

No I think Mark was saying he was hopeful we'd see the red striped CS come in at 246k all in, but instead 286k. Same car. The other is CS being auctioned off by Barrett Jackson.

    That's a great number!

However, these auctions generally pull big numbers that may or may not be representative of the actual market. There are allot of egos at these things along with a fair amount of alcohol. All you need id 2 guys to get in a pissing contest!

Either way, it bodes well for CS owners! :)

It is a wracked car with over 30k miles... Way more interested in the $286 low miles, stripe and clean car.

I looked at all 3 in Scottsdale. The one at the Gooding auction ($260) was very nice and low miles. I'm not surprised it went off the charts high. It will be in a museum or collection. The Barrett Jackson car was a little rough. I didn't do a mechanical inspection but there were some visual flaws. Combine that with a wreck and 30k miles it should be a bottom dollar CS. The one that astonishes me is the eBay car. It is at Scottsdale Sport and Classic cars. I have never been in before but saw the car listed on cars.com and decided to stop in. I knew it was the Puerto Rico car that was to be auctioned in Oct. I heard he wanted $150 for it then. In any case the car was not nearly as perfect as the eBay add says it is. I figured that may be the case since the listing has bad facts anyway on numbers produced. There were so many rock chips on the front end the whole hood, fenders and bumper needs repainted. The gaps in the bumpers and panels were not at all consistent widths. He had an alarm on the car and wouldn't let me look in it because he said it was sold so I couldn't get a feel for wear in the interior. Given the Puerto Rico home and the known gaps in carfax there combined with the inconsistent bumper gaps I would definitely want to get a thorough inspection to know if it has been wrecked. He said it was sold sight unseen to someone in Saudi Arabia for $225. I guess that fell through if it made it up on eBay. I will be shocked if someone pays anywhere near 225 for that one.

That dealership told me a car I was looking at was sold too. They didn't think I was a serious buyer. I bought it from them two weeks later.

I bid to 80 on the CS at Barrett. It was a decent car and had a new clutch and belt service a few hundred miles ago. It showed it's miles but not in a bad way, looked ok. Someone got a great driver for the money.

CARFAX reports Washington damage report, accident reported, vehicle involved in rear-end collision with another motor vehicle, airbags did not deploy.
    Get Started Today

Doesnt the above mean it rear ended another car but the air bags did not go off ? It probably had front end damage?

Nice price for miles and condition.

Wow, that has to be the cheapest any CS has ever sold.

And $286K has to be the most.

Both on the same day? Weird.

Yes. Airbag cover color looks way different. This is a photo from april 2011. The CARFAX report above is from 4/21/2012. Maybe this car had 2 different accidents in it's life?

    SOLD!

    Agreed

I've seen airbag covers fade less/more compared to rest of dash so different color doesn't necessarily translate to airbag has gone off.

Look at this beauty. lol Leather dash, alcantara airbag cover. No, it didn't leave the factory that way.

As one of the "losing" bidders, I can say that given the early time of day there was very little booze involved, the bidding was steady with lots of players. Several phones and people in the room. It got thin around 250k. It is a Gooding Auction after all so it's a lot different than BJ, Russo and others.

Having gone over the car in detail and having owned one for the last several years I can say that this car was as close to perfect as is possible. It should define the high water mark (for now) and it did.

Great car and the buyer should feel great having this in the stable.

Some great cars here and great to see other fchatters joining in the fun.
