I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to the Used Market for Rovers, but I'm really surprised of their depreciation. Examples include 03 HSEs going for ~11k, and 06 Sports (SC'd) going for ~15k (and this is CND currency). Almost makes jumping on one of these 'deals' pretty tempting. What's it like owning one of these?

I have a 2012 HSE. Hasn't really depreciated a penny since I bought it in June *knock on wood*. Kind of surprised, although, I suspect that people (like myself) prefer the L322 body style over the L405, so the values of the last ones don't seem to be dropping as quickly as those of earlier years.

From what I've heard, you want to go with the Jag engine ('06 +). I'd go with the upgraded interior ('07+). If you have the money, I'd recommend going for a 2010 or newer, as that was the final and best derivation of the L322.

I had an 01 P38 4.6 that I bought at/near the bottom years ago. There were a lot of silly issues with the 03s but not nearly as much as there were with the 95-02s. That being said, probably my favorite SUV. Fit and finish short of an M bmw or amg is amazing IMO. The painted plastic on the HSEs fades a bit on the doors and by the shifter but no biggie. The sport and the big guy are totally different IMO. One is a lot more sporty and crossover based, still heavy feeling but size, drive and maneuvering wise - small.

I tend to agree, the L322 is so much more…shall we say..sexy, and inline with the traditional Rover body style? Even 2010s aren't out of the ballpark (Ive seen them go for ~40k [HSE and Sport]). It just comes down to a Reliability/Depreciation quarrel.

I would suspect most depreciation will accrue after the warranty expires.

I have a 2006 HSE Sport that is in mint condition. Bought it in October for $20k. To me, I'm happy as a peach with the price I paid. I expect I'll put 15k-20k miles per year on it, as its primarily a company vehicle. My only complaints are the rear hatch release is really bizarre to operate, and the Homelink garage door opener is seemingly impossible to program by me.

I have a 2003 HSE Oxford Edition (interior upgrade) that I've owned since new. It has only 68,000 miles on it. I'm considering trading it on a new LR4 (or maybe a Sport...they're far different from the original Sport) and expect to get about $10K trade-in value for it. It has been a great vehicle. As far as I'm concerned no other SUV even comes close.

I have an '06 SC and a '06 Sport HSE. They depreciate like rocks after the warranty expires because the repair costs are ridiculous out of warranty. The air suspensions are particularly costly, however, they are getting better. I had a P38 Range Rover back in the 90s that was a nightmare. The Jag engined Rovers with Ford electronics are much more reliable. But the repairs are still ridiculous. To replace both cats... $3000 from the dealer. Air springs are $900 a piece. Etc... Etc... But of course, you can do aftermarket parts with Indy shops and save a ton of dough.

Keep the maintenance up with preventative care and you'll be fine.

I have an 06 LR3 (Discovery 3) HSE with the HD package, white on black. I bought it in Aug 2011 for $23k. I love it. Easy to work on too. Now has 139k miles on it.

Like a big rock. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia. I kinda regret it for not getting a pre-loved one. But then, nothing is better then the scent of a brand new car.

They drop like a brick. The trick is to find a low mile, well cared for example at the lower end of the curve. I had a 1999 P38 and put 40k on the clock. Fried the tranny (my fault) a couple little things but nothing that online community couldnt take care of.

My current RR HSE is a 2005. I picked it up in 2009 for $28k and 29,000 miles. The front airbag/shocks died due to age in 2012. A coolant hose cracked. Other than that a few display messages that I went to an indy to get cleared. Since then I bought an Icarsoft 950 OBDII reader/clearer. It reads/clears 95% of the RR specific codes. All for $150 shipped. If you want to go all in, get a Rovacom for $500(?).

The L322 checks off so many boxes, good looking, elegant, sporty, rugged etc. The online community can solve any problems that might crop up. Most issues are electrical and can be traced to a weak battery or alternator. Get the tranny fluid flushed before 60,000. LR says its sealed for life, but thats BS and clogged ports due to dirty fluid have killed many L322 trannies.

03-05 is a BMW X5, 06+ is Jag. I went with a BMW because I found an uber clean example cheap. It also helps that that I can get parts from the BMW dealer if the Lr dealer is out.

On the other hand, had a 2013 Autobiography with 7k miles when LWB Autobiography became available.
Got MSRP in trade, had to pay only the list price difference for LWB (about $6k).
In general though, if you are looking for best resale value SUV nothing can beat Gelandewagen.

I love the look of the G wagen

However there is so much weight in the front straight axle...you kringe before you hit a bump not when you hit it..
They should really update the entire suspension..to 21 st century.

Wasnt there a new super g wagen proposed???
I like the moon rover feel of its look

I think depreciation in the New RRSC is worth it , as....
By Far, it is the Best RR yet, or ever for that matter.

Is that an above average selling price for that year with that kind of mileage?
