A friend and I went for a nice drive up snake canyon two days ago and CHP decided to give me a ticket. I was driving up the last corner and he was standing up at the lookout talking to other drivers and then saw me coming and blocked the road in front of me. Not speeding, not driving like a maniac. Just a really loud exhaust. They wrote me up for crossing the double yellow even though I have NOT touched it. I know about how anal they get on this and therefore watched out to not get anywhere close. I asked for evidence or a video because I have not touched it. He said he caught it on video but refused to show the evidence. I have a witness that sat in the car and have seen it that I did not cross. Obviously I am going to fight this and wanted to see if you guys have any hints or personal experiences. Some of the camera guys and usuals that hang out up there have said that almost every exotic that comes up gets tickets for the double yellow and most of the time no one has actually touched it. This is ridiculous and unnecessary stress for everyone.

As much of a bs ticket this is.... It's just the cost of having a nice car. Fight it, but if the cop shows up you lose automatically.

I assume he will be a no show. Its with chatsworth and a friend managed to get witnesses into his case which apparently they are very linient with it at that courthouse of chatsworth. He also knew it was complete bs and just wanted to be a ****** infront of the other guys. This is really starting to annoy me since this is not the first ticket in a short time period.

Sorry, but You're done. CHP was the citing agency 100% they will show up. No, whatever grass head said that is way off, there is zero tolerance on touching and crossing yellows.

you wouldn't happen to have an orange MG ?

Most officers combine their tickets to a certain day to show up and handle all at once. So request for a day change and go on the new assigned day. There is a good chance that you will win for no-show.

No. This happened with a 458 from a friend. We went up there with a couple cars and it caught me.

There's a new Sheriff and the message is pretty clear...I haven't gone to the snake in a long while because it's just a ticket zone.

Somebody needs to go through there with a GoPro running. GoPro fixed on road by front left wheel and on the GPS that shows date and time and movement of car through the snake ;) If you knew they were there, as evidenced on Waze etc, it wouldn't take much to have one of these cops issuing a bogus ticket and catching them in the act.

there is truth to this using the waze app. they do not like it.

I was stopped in a turn out when I notched a chp car pulled up and asked me if I needed some help, I declined and he was in the middle of the road flagging over a group of MC riders on crotch rockets pulled up at a rest stop and then CHP along with park rangers forestry service enforcement following behind the riders, the LEO's started lecturing all of the rides who had Go-pro's and one of the LEO's mentioned

"if you have a go pro affixed to the front of a car and driving in a group you can be written up on various of infractions and other serious charges etc of street racing etc."

What's the name of the cop? I was stopped for double yellow cross on Mulholland last March, fought it, had a real ***** motorcycle cop. Can tell u more about it, if it's the same guy (Lost Hills Sheriff's office, not CHP).

That slow car could very well have been a plant if no motorcycle cop anywhere in sight. At the speed you were going initially you'd think you would notice everything. Seems like everyone should have Waze going these days.(I haven't even tried it yet but it sure makes sense) As a matter of fact the more people using it the better to ensure accurate updates ;) In this case if you had of been alerted you would have stuck behind the cop plant car until they turned him around to try and snag someone else.

I thought that so many times.... maybe they purposely have somebody going 35mph there endlessly during patrol times, knowing the double yellow continues for miles. Strange, but I didn't see that light blue Honda Fit at all from the time I was stopped, onward.

I've seen MANY more egregious double yellow passes/overtakes along Mulholland Hwy., especially by sport bike riders. Done in dangerous places, blind corners, etc. Where I was, it was straight and semi flat for over 3/4 mile. I think the motorcycle cop must have been ahead of me parked on the right, in front of the Honda just out of my line of vision. Just happened to do the pass in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Check and see if Rockstorephotos took a picture of you, if so might be able to use it to fight the ticket.
