Looking for tips from folks. Removing spare, changing bumpers, removing air pump, removing cats. Any other ideas?

    some thoughts:
    - loose weight
    - wear lighter clothes, skip the shoes and socks
    - get rid of the passenger
    - ride with 1/4 tank of gas
    - don't fill up the washer fluid bottle
    - inflate tires 10 psi more to reduce rolling resistance

that is about all I can think of.

    Watch the Superbowl.

    It won't reduce weight.

It will, however, reduce silly questions on FerrariChat.

    :)

AC compressor if not needed and/or have the rear deck hood made of fiberglass or CF.

During the course of my endless restoration I've been weighing everything. I have a euro so it's lighter to begin with.

Off the top of my head the big savings are bumpers, radiator, seats, brakes, spare, battery, headers, exhaust.

Fro there it gets slim and you start looking at old sound deadening material, etc.

    My plan, all reversible:

    AC delete, complete
    Radio and speakers delete
    Headlights gutted including motors
    Aluminum radiator
    Aluminum shocks
    CF or glass deck lid
CF or glass doors with no windows (I have never driven with my windows up...ever!)
    Lightweight brake hats and calipers
    No spare
    Custom exhaust
    Go on a diet

I wish they made the whole body in fiberglass instead of steel... Oh, wait...

(in all seriousness, I know this doesn't save as many pounds as you might expect)

you can reduce ~ 200 pounds without getting too deep into it

exchange front & rear bumpers for euro fiberglas, 80pds
    ditch air pump, 30 pds
air injection and egr system, 20 pds
    air condition, 30 pds
remove cats & change for sports exhaust, 30 pds
exchange spare for fix-a-flat, 20 pds

put all the above stuff on the shelf ... you never know ;)

Tell me! I replace the stock one for a MB190 diesel radiator ( almost perfect fit) which i weight at only 8 lbs. (and death cheap)

The real one item (or actually two) that add weight are the doors. I weighted the doors when converting my car to a tracktoy. These (US) doors weighted where a whopping 37Kg (81 LBS) EACH.
I replaced them by fully functional ones made of fibreglas (formula GT Germany) with total weight of less than 7 kg.

The bumbers is a good and already widely known one too, especially as the added weigh (a lot, total for the front and rear US bumber is 83 LBS)) is at the very place you do not want it to be. The replacement aftermarket euro style ones were less than 10 lbs together.

Another real weight-adder are the seats. 31 kg each (from memory). I replaced them with carbon bucketsseat weighing less than 3,5 kg each.

But the list is much longer. Of coarse lots of these changes affect to stock look but in my case that was not a considderation.

Stock koni shocks are heavy, aftermarket ones can be found for less than half. The brakes are heavy. My aftermarket ( F360 callipers and superformance disk/hat combi) front and rears saved a total of 30LBS for the complete setup)
Another obvious one is the muffler.

My list is endless. In the end I shaved of more than 550 LBS! Again, not for the faint of heart ones:):):)

BTW, All this, combined with a turbo setup created a car just over 2500 lbs with almost 300BHP.

    For me the perfect 308!!

ps, i lost 50 lbs during the process:):):)

    quick weight loss:
remove t-top, tools, jack and spare.
    wear flip-flops, t-shirt & shorts.
remove sunglasses and cap, leave lady and those fancy Ferrari floor mats at home...

    furthermore:
upgrade to euro 328 GTS model (non steel bumpers, go topless, no cat, no o2 sensor etc etc. )
    sport exhaust,
    alluminium radiator,
    drop sodium wheels (308),
delete aircon compressor and aircon boxes etc.
    replace to platinum/irridium spark plugs.
replace air intake tubes with light-weight ducting pipe.
    K&N air filter ( new type ) LOL : )
remove old heavy stereo and speakers

    cheers
    Johnny ;)

drop sodium wheels? that's funny:):):):):) (Although looks more like a safety issue for me than a weight saving one:))

    FWIW,

When my car gets up to about 110-120mph, the front end started to feel alittle "lite," w/o the spare in there.

    YMMV.

In my street racing days we NEVER had more than 1/4 tank of gas in the car…1/8 was more like it! :) One of my favorite races was one where my girlfriend asked to ride with the other guy because she was mad at me! He agreed (AMATEUR!) and lost by about 1/2 car length and I had a "new" car - a 1969 Z28! No, don't worry, I "sold" it back to him for 50 bucks since basically we cheated.

About the only thing I would remove from a Ferrari, other than any tools/junk in the trunk is the spare tire. Obviously the AC compressor/hoses/evaporator/condenser is a candidate if you KNOW you don't need it/want it.

Obviously if you are serious about this, there are all sorts of body parts/ other items to remove/change for lighter ones. I wouldn't bother with it myself, I'd just install the 928 Motorsports supercharger. :)

I was kind of amazed at how heavy the rear inner fender liners are. They are pretty beefy fiberglass construction. Considering that within a few years these parts were made out of very thin poly ethylene plastic on most cars, this looks like an area where a carbon or poly ethylene replacement would be a fairly obvious upgrade.
