    Hi everyone,

    New to the site.

After almost two years of deliberating I'm about to buy my first Ferrari. Tomorrow I will finally press the button. My mind was made up - brand new Ferrari T, Bianco Italian, Nero interior. All options picked. However my dealer has a beautiful 2014 458 Spider, 1,500 miles, optioned as I would have wanted. Now I am seriously wavering - again!

Either way this car will not be a daily driver - so that is not an issue.

I have driven both in the past and am aware of the differences etc. Just cannot decide!

Can anyone help? Cali T new vs previously owned 458 Spider ????????

My suggestion is that if you don't need it right now, go with the Cal T, and have it be yours. I think there is something special about ordering and building your car. I think the Cal T is amazing, I was at the dealer on Friday and a owner was taking delivery of his new Cal T. It's just something special about being new. His was awesome, it was yellow with dark blue interior with yellow stitching. In words it does not sound great, but in person, it looks awesome. Go with the new.

Buying new you will take a bigger hit on depreciation. It all depends on what you want from your car. The Cali T is probably more of a GT car albeit with good performance but not so track focussed as the 458. The Cali T has the extra +2 rear seats and a bit more luggage space. Then there's the issue of turbo v NA engine if that's important to you. Personally I think they've done a great job with the T but there are of course the Ferrari aficionados who consider the T option sacrilege. Both are great cars and you're in the very fortunate position of having that choice to make. If I didn't have to think about fitting my 2 boys in the back or having enough space for golf clubs I'd have gone for the used 458. My choice was governed by requirement and so it's the Cali T for me. I'm sure you'll enjoy whichever one you pick.

If you are going to take long overnight trips and/or haul small kids around get the T.

If you are going to drive in the twisties a lot and love the sound of a na V8 at 9000 rpm get the 458 spider.

If you don't want to wait get the spider. If you don't mind waiting order what you want. T or spider.

I like to make a list of positives and negatives of each choice. I weight them for importance. The decision is usually obvious.

The 458 should have already been hit by depreciation and has all the stuff u wanted, u said.

It's more powerful and more beautiful, also more dinamic.

The T would make u lose money immediately.

If your a true motoring enthusiast, then the 458 for sure.

California T - wet sump, poser car. Improved over its awful predecessor, but still not a serious Ferrari, IMO.

458 is also great for the track.

If I had that choice to make - the 458 would win hands down, provided the spec of that car is to your taste - colour / options / etc, else wait for the right one to pop up.

Get the Cal t now and trade for the new 458 spider in 2 years (or three).

If you wait for the 458 replacement it could be 2 to 4 years from now before it shows up.

I would not buy the 458 spider now when the new one is about to come out. At least the Cal t is still relatively new.

Getting either is pretty easy now. Dealers are pretty much begging for orders of both.
