I must say the 488 GTB looks great. When saw the first pictures of this car today I wasn't very impressed. Two things which I did't like of the 488 were the front end and the side intakes. They looked a bit oversized and unelegant. But I must say the longer I'm looking at these pictures the more I like the look of this car. The rear end I liked from the beginning. It looks very beautiful. And the interior looks also great. Now let's wait on a proper video of this car to see (and hear) how it will sound like.

The only comparison with the 599 GTO is due to engine power which is identical. Interestingly, the 488 has more torque though. The power step up from the 458 is ballistic at circa 20% with torque up over 30%! Overall I think the design is interesting, more aggressive but a little incoherent from front to side to rear views.

How much does it weigh compared to the 458?

Agreed! My only slight quibble- everyone has one don't they- and it could be just due to the newness and not having seen it in person- the front bumper treatment veers slightly too close to Lamborghini territory for me.

I think this will look great in person.

Because 398 would sound inferior to previous models.

    3.9l/8cyl = .4875

    Round it up to .488.

Don't they use the same thing for F12? And look, there is absolutely no gap between the tires and the wheel arches. Just wait for the actual car with fist sized gaps... Its just the first press images. Its been a long time since I thought the first batch of Ferrari press images were very good.

As always, some people will not like the new model right away, after a few months it will be the best ferrari ever.

Anyway, I loved the design!! Looks amazing!!

    But, I didn't like those turbos =/
Lets wait for the reviews and see how the cars turns out. I hope the exhaust note doesnt suck.

Completely different situation. The 650S was a facelift 2.5 years into production. Did you expect them to release a brand new car after 2.5 years to sell better?

I agree on the 12C. They had to do something dramatic. I don't love it either but it seems to have worked.

Ferrari probably won't start building 488 GTB new orders until after the 2015 summer holiday. For North America deliveries about this time (FEB) next year....

Too many angles. The oversized air scoops take away from the beauty of the design.

side profile of the 458 is better, IMO. but the rear view is much improved on the 488, and the front 3/4 view is really aggressive...it's going to look really badass as a GT2/GT3 racer.

The worst part is that these are actual studio photos, it's the post-processing which is just terrible. It will look mich better on proper photos and irl.

Much better looking than a 458. I can see I'm in the minority here. Really love it from the back and side.

Sucks that the NA V8 will leave, but with a different exhaust it can sound pretty damn good. California T doesn't sound half bad.

    3902 divided by 8 = 487,75. I think that's where 488 comes from. Not the first of this logic though, 5472/12 = 456.

The upshifts sound horrible next to the wailing scream of the Italia... :(
