Maybe a simpler solution would be...

    View image: F1 copy

Would probably look good in carbon, too.

As a new 458 owner who got his car two weeks ago, I have to admit that the car looks very nice; especially from the front. I really love what they did with the bumper, combination of LaFerrari and F1 models.

Those rear wheels appear to be 21 inch could that be the CGi effect ?

Isn't the new model release timing usually associated with some accelerated depreciation for the prior model? I remember my 430 dropped like a rock once the 458 hit the streets.

This car being faster than the 458 and Speciale is impressive and as you say many will want the fastest and be trading in/up

Honestly, better looking than the Ford GT, which is a fake retro looking bast@rd of a once proud design IMO.

Problem is that I am not fan of that element. I wanted to hide it and to get one strong surface with black mesh. Currently side intake seems too vulgar to my eyes. We will see how this looks in real world.

'Vulgar' is a good word for it. Trouble is, a big mesh might draw attention to the big hole in the side of the car. I think the best way to deal with it would be to mitigate it rather than trying to hide it.

Agree, especially since they put in a V-6 TT. What was Ford thinking?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If I could only have one (either the 488 or the new Ford GT) I'd take the Ford GT. That car is gorgeous at least to me.

My goal is to attempt to not have to decide on just one and am trying to get both. Allocations will be tight on the GT and a long line.

I just looked at the pictures in full screen and the car looks absolutely amazing. I know the air intakes on the side are large but they look badass! This car would look amazing next to my FF :)

i think the doors must be butterfly - that's the only way that door handle makes sense. I still think it's ugly and should have been more discrete

also that side scoop winglet looks like a moving flap. one of the front 3/4 view shows a line.

I think it looks like an inbred between the 458 and the La Ferrari.

Can someone explain the name.. its not a 4.8 V8, nor is it a 4.88L car.

Perhaps I may be upgrading to a 458 (from my F430 soon).

The new generation car has always been faster than the outgoing special version. 430 vs Stradale, 458 vs Scuderia, 488 vs 458. Nothing new. Am I missing something?

In my opinion is takes nothing away from the incredibly visceral experience of these special addition cars.

Im hoping it goes back to original ferrari lore...

    488cc per cylinder

the 4.5 v8 thing meaning 458 is more of a modern way of justifying a name.

+1 -- not that the "official" explanation needs to be (and rarely is) logical ;)

I'll go with that 488cc/cylinder guess (and they probably wanted to use a number larger than 458)...
