Why? Have you ever cared about what old cars look like when you want a new one? Why is that even important? Also, this did nothing for Lamborghini when they did it with the G -> 560. 560 was getting long in the tooth in 2010 and everyone was *****ing about it for the last 5 years.

Besides, this concept goes out the window every other time. 355->360, 430-458. Obviously they don't actually care about this or there would be constantly evolution rather than brand new look every other time.

488 is still a 458 merely for cost reasons. They know they can sell just as many car still without having to redo the entire package. Hell, the interior is almost identical too. Ferrari knows they can probably stretch a design for 10 years rather than 6. This is Ferrari's idea of a facelift in design.

Not saying it's good or bad, but frankly, I get sick of a car after this long. There are so many exotic manufacturers out now that new cars are around every corner and facelifts don't really cut it for me. I find them boring and I don't care how exactly they send off the previous generation car which I didn't want in the first place.

I also don't think it does anything significant at all for residuals of old cars, especially with so much competition in the niche.

    Love the looks.

But the 488 does not have anything I NEED. I like the new keyless entry feature. We have on our Audis and love it. But need is a big leap.

Don't need more power. The 458 spider is so fast it scares me at times. Another 100 hp! Yikes.

And it will be 3 years for the spider to come out. I will REALLY be a geezer then. Who knows what my health will be...that's why I bit the bullet and got a 2012 spider with 851 miles. Have loved driving it for three years. 19k miles and no regrets. The sound is one of the things I like best. And the car has been bullet proof. So 3 years seems like a lifetime to me.

And the car is stored for winter for 5 months so looking forward to driving in the twisties. Not tired of it yet.

    Forza Ferrari.

Um, isn't the 458 in its 6th year of production already? 2010 - 2015 production...

A gently used 14 Huracan may be $100K cheaper than a 16 488 by the time the 488 arrives on the street. My friend got a brand new Huracan below MSRP, they are having trouble getting them out of the showrooms.

I cant tell you exact date when new plan was released, but I saw that in magazine rather recently as some sort of report. This plan covers California T, 488 GTB, FF and F12. So count years from unveiling of these cars and you will get pretty precise date when brand new model or modificata will be released.

Please dont confuse brand new models and modificata`s. Brand new models are coming every 8 years, modificata`s between - in 4 years.

That's true. Before we start drawing all the comparisons, it's important to know that this car is probably a year away for most people. A few will get it early on, but I wouldn't even expect US cars in 2015.

Surprisingly there are. Most have been updated and a brand new highway is being built with some sections completed. Add that to our lax speeding enforcement and it makes for good fun at times.
When last you been? Quite a few super cars here now..aventador,f12 etc

It says the car has a "blown spoiler". No idea what that means.

knowing that one's dog is going to die doesn't prevent one from feeling sad about his passing.

ditto knowing about a better car than yours (and it's a very special car) imminent arrival doesn't prevent you from feeling upset. For some people anyway. Others couldn't care less. others simply just go buy the latest and greatest.

2010 I think. Maybe 2011. Too many friends have died on those roads in the last few years. I think I will just stick my roads here with my analog Ferraris.

Looks like air come into the side vent, and blows out in the gap between the taillights. Just a guess.

Actually before merging a couple of threads this morning, there was almost 60 pages of speculation but point taken.

Is the side flap on the side of the car an active aero bit as well?

Its what happens when all of your cars look near identical. The 488 is a face lift. The Huracan was suppose to be new but IMO it looks like a Gallardo with Aventador head lights.

I think Lambo has really doomed themselves. How many times can they keep rehashing the Countach design to wow people?

One of the best looking Ferrari's of all time. Don't like the engine note though.

Truth. Even more so considering Lambo dragged out the Gallardo for 10 years with countless iterations. Would have anticipated a quantum leap visually from 560 to Huracan but instead is like a facelift instead of a revolutionary new model. Still like it though:)

Looks like it could tilt up at the back. There is an inlet aft of the Ferrari script on the black panel behind the glass. This would feed air to what will be in effect a wing.

    The page says

"active aerodynamics coupled with a blown spoiler.(...)The broad, low tail is also dominated by aerodynamic solutions, including an innovative blown spoiler which generates downforce without increasing drag. This works in conjunction with an aggressive ramp angle for the diffuser which features active flaps..

From what I understand that means the spoiler itself is not active.

Judging from the 488 coupe's design, im assuming that when the Spider does arrive, it will most likely NOT have the clear engine cover again?

    And so the trend continues:

    308 leads to 328
    348 leads to 355
    360 leads to 430
    458 leads to 488

But the name goes back to their original method of numbering cars, since the engine is only 3.9 liters: 3900/8 = 487.5. I believe this will be the first 8-cylinder Ferrari to be numbered by that method.

I think the last Ferrari production car to be so numbered was the 456.

BTW, anyone seen the new key? Curious to see what it looks like.

"(...)the Ferrari 488 GTB’s new key takes its inspiration from the car’s cylinder banks and allows keyless starts."

I think the car might look better if the bar in the side intake were less noticeable - perhaps by painting it flat black.
