Ferrari follows the old racing convention and calls all non F1 and non racing prototype cars, grand turismos. At first the 688 stroke me as awkward and a repetition of the 458 theme. But the more I look at it, the more I love it! It will be amazing in the flesh!!!
If it doesn't have the exhaust sound typical of Ferrari, then it sucks. Or at least it should suck considering how Fchat has derided amazing performance turbo cars for years just because of their exhaust. Will be interesting to see how many die hard emotive exhaust zealots keep singing the tune when the 488 finally arrives. I have a feeling that suddenly the turbo exhaust sound will be "something unique and special in it's own right," and "be an amazing emotional car," perhaps the "best turbo car ever."
You guys are just gorgeous. Great Images. I see a lot of LaF DNA in the front side Profile in silver.
Sept/Oct 2016? I was told May 2016 for UK. Waiting for a call back now. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
A great evolution IMHO but many of the Mayors concerns I share and it will take a lot to drag me out of the F12 now. Interestingly, I cannot see that they have integrated the much vaunted CarPlay?
Much appreciated. Grey (silverstone) and white with black top, are my preferable options. Looks lovely.
For me the above is exactly what's wrong with this sector of the market, its being driven by numbers. How usable is 670 bhp in most countries. This is not so much a slight on the 488 as it is on the entire sector. For me I would trade bhp for sound and driving tactility, because when you are blasting along mountain roads its not just ultimate speed that gives driving pleasure its a combination of everything and for most the sound in integral to that.
One more render with 488 GRB in white with black accents P.S. Big thanx for all members posting my renders as attachments http://s8.postimg.org/e605kkbf9/408740870.jpg
So Mayor Bob, in the past you said a 3 pedal car is like a hand crank model T method for starting an engine -- a thing of the past that is no longer relevant or needed (in response to people who wanted Ferrari to bring back the 3 pedal car), and now you say get rid of the TFT digital display that runs the computer options/systems in favor of analog!?!
Once again you miss the entire point. You want to group tech under a one size fits all banner. I do not. When you are making a 600hp motorcar to go 0-60 in 3 secs, it's just stupid to put in a gearbox that won't let you go faster than 4. It's a complete waste. What's the point? The Human visual interface though is different. Every car today has a TFT display out of an Xbox. What Ferrari should do is step up and give something that is different and more authentic. That's all I'm saying because TFT displays are all the same.
Agreed. A modern take on a classic analogue set-up would look great. Actually, they should offer that as an option.
I know this is not an essential item(s) for a Ferrari but I agree with Mayor Bob that the 458 stereo and A/C SUCK. They aren't even close to being satisfactory. I drive my 458 Spider several times a week and don't use the radio because it sounds so bad. I don't use the car much in the Summer because the a/c is terrible and I get all sweaty in the FL heat. Pretty unacceptable considering I paid $325K. It's even worse considering these are easy and inexpensive things to do properly. TO me it's like the "stickies" the 360 had-- unacceptable to have on an expensive car. I hope they improve those items on the 488.
