In the UK it is harder to find a GTS than a GT normally. Currently though, there are almost no cars of either model openly on sale in the UK.

Ok, so if these cars are so hot, why hasn't the one at Gullwing been snapped up at $195k?

I mean it seems like a relative bargain??

Maybe cause its only worth $194?

It has been on their website for over a week

    Just sayin'

I've never had any personal dealings or experiences with them so have no opinion. They look like they specialize in unusual as-is resto projects with appealing prices. Saw them on Wayne Carini's Chasing Cars where he sold them the 356A cabriolet. I would have bought that car, fiberglass bumpers and all! I prefer buying cars as-is and not restored vs a "fresh" unknown restoration that could hide lots of sins.

When you open the actual listing you can see that this car is actually a GTS. The seller was apperently sloppy then placing the ad...

I bought a Dino from gullwing, it was an interesting place to visit.
They have diverse range of cars and like many dealers are not expert in all they sell.
You need to understand what you're getting into and inspect in person.
Clearly they specialize in projects and I would deal with them again for the right car.

Ahhhh, what a few years and experience does to the human mind, is boggling.

When I bought my first, all I knew about was that it was a Dino GT, had knock-offs and the "supposed integrity" of the seller...Mr. 99.5% complete ;)

GT, all the way! In a GTS, no roof rust, priceless!

    Regards, Alberto

    Scott,

I think we are still seeing a slow trickle of cars coming to market.

There isn't nearly the pipeline of Dino's there have been in the past.

I think the next several months will be interesting. I am very interested in watching what comes to market. Even more interested in what doesn't. :)

Yes, it certainly seems that way - in Europe too.
One site listing cars for sale mainly in continental Europe (mobile.de), currently shows 27 Dinos for sale.
19 of them are GTs. 8 are GTS's.

There have always been a much higher number of GT's for sale in the Euro market.

I suppose you are right. I imagine the GTS probably sold better in the US than anywhere else. So the subject of this thread was mainly addressing conditions in the US market? OK, then, makes sense.

But whatever was causing the imbalance of GTs vs. GTS's for sale, seems to have corrected itself by now.

Either way, it is somewhat hopeful news for me. Later this year, I will be starting to look for a Euro 246 GT. And while I hope to find one in Europe, I will certainly look in the US too. Hearing that more GTs are available on both sides of the Atlantic is encouraging.

Here is the description for record keeping purposes:

In 1979, the car was sold by Mr Damman to Jean-François Vaney, and a copy of the original Bill of Sale is included on file. Mr Vaney was a Swiss gentleman racing driver who resided in Belgium, and he was highly regarded amongst drivers in F1 and other events during this decade. Following his retirement, he ran a workshop, Vaney Cars Sprl., in the famous circuit town of Zolder. The current owner has maintained the Dino for many years, but it has not been registered in his name; as a result, it legally remains a two-owner car, as it is still titled in Mr Vaney’s name.

Between 2000 and 2012, the car underwent a painstaking restoration in classic Rosso Corsa, which is documented by accompanying photographs. The suspension was upgraded for better stability on the road, and the engine was lightly modified with the equipment and tuning of the famous Lancia Stratos rally car, which used a Dino engine. The carburettors and camshaft have been upgraded and new pistons and hardened valves have been installed, resulting in an estimated 220 brake horsepower, which is a gain of 30 horses over the standard Dino 246 GTS. As this Dino has been driven only 250 kilometres since the completion of the work, further break-in mileage is recommended prior to vigorous road use.

This wonderfully tuned car is accompanied by the aforementioned photographs, tools, and original books, as well as its original carburettors and bonnet, and it is exactly the beautiful, drivable Dino one would desire.
