And did you notice also the claim (in Italian) that there were "260 Left Hand Drive Vetroresinas with dry sump build"?
My guess is that there are "at least 200 more", but the debate about the number of vetroresinas build is another hot topic...

It seems like all 308s nowadays are specified down to a detail to get to low numbers. Left hands, right hands, Euro, US, Vetro, QV, dry sump... I guess they are all in low numbers when doing that. The only thing that matters in the end is what people prefer and wants to pay. All of them are unique in their own way

 

Well, speaking from a "numbers produced" perspective, none can beat the 208 with the 2 liter V8 engine WITHOUT Turbo: 160 GTBs and 140 GTSs...not sure I would open my check book to buy one...

I'm sure i wouldn't. A friend of mine had one. It was just soooo slow. Do not forget:All the old turbo's were there only to avoid local tax on engines above 2 litre, performance was always behind their normal counterpArts. Why do you think they sold so little? There was simply no other market than italy ( And a few small others i think.).

The current cars with turbo are there purely to increase power. Not to ofset a much smaller displacement of the engine

As comparison. In September 2009 i bought a complete '78 gtb in the US in similar state, but LESS the damage on the body, for 11500.

The 488 announcement went out to every Ferrari owner in the world. It mentioned the 308 GTB multiple times. That is a lot of respect from Ferrari IMHO. Then the 488 gets picked up by every media outlet, and they are all now reading about the 308 again. That's some decent attention.

 

I'm cringing seeing that strap over the paintwork ...

Yah I agree. I see the 308 more easily up to the 430 (minus the sharknose tribute)...less in the 458...less still in the 488. But it is there in general.

Those winglets on the 1/4s in the back are very similar to the new Ford GT actually. That was the first thing I recognized if I'm honest.

 

I am interested to see if the GTS moniker gets revived with the open version. Porsche has made a big deal (and IMHO done a great job of) re-introducing the classic Targa to the 991 range.

Ferrari last did a proper GTS with the F50. A simple, lift-out roof panel -- not a complicated retractable hard top, like the 458 Spider and California -- would be terrific. Probably wishful thinking, though.

 

I agree. And I love that they brought "GTB" name back. I think it will do nothing but help our cars.

 

Well...you may be correct. A GTS top would allow them to not have to mess with the rear aero. But there may be room for a soft top and the aero - hard to tell. It would be consistent from a naming perspective. They may just put a soft top and call it a GTS anyway ; )

I think they will get some odd looks from luxury customers if they tell them they have to manually remove the roof. Not that it would bother me. Maybe they can do the targa top, but automate or semi-automate the removal to make it easy to install and remove. I wonder about safety laws now also - although I have no idea how they relate to roofs.

 

Does anyone know the pre-auction estimate on this car? Thanks.
