I totally agree. Put your crazy sound system in a Honda. That completely ruin a Ferrari in my opinion. The music comes from the 2 little tweetter just Under the rear bumper.
Hi, there`s been a few auctions with Testarossa`s in over the past few days in the UK and Europe - so here`s some results. First one at Anglia Car Auctions 31st Jan - a great little auction house in the UK - non of the fuss and commotion of the high end auctions but really professional, usually spot on realistic estimates - and just 5% buyers premium (+VAT)! 1991, LHD Euro 54,000 km - appr. £63,000 GBP / $100,000 all in: 1991 Ferrari Testarossa LHD for Auction | Anglia Car Auctions Next RM Paris Yesteday (4th) 1989, LHD Euro 2,861 km - appr. £126,000 GBP / $200,000 all in: 1989 Ferrari Testarossa | Paris 2015 | RM AUCTIONS Finally Bonhams Paris just now (5th) 1989, LHD Euro 14,000 km - appr. £82,000 GBP / $129,000 all in: Bonhams : Conduite à gauche, seulement 14,070 kilomètres d'origine, Ferrari Testarossa coupé 1989 A good spread of mileages there! There`s also another one tomorrow (6th) Artcurial, Retromobile Paris - with a 1986 LHD Flying Mirror, 41,000 km: Rétromobile 2015 by Artcurial Motorcars - Sale N° 2651 - Lot N° 116 | Artcurial | Briest - Poulain - F. Tajan Dom.
Thanks for those, very interesting. Shows prices are not as insane as a look at classifieds might suggest. +1 about Anglia. Great little house. Bought my Testarossa there.
Ah I remember now - you got a good deal! Bearing in mind all those cars were LHD, I think they are achieving at auction what would have been considered insane asking prices a few months ago! Going by RHD auction results it seems you are looking at a 40-50% premium for RHD in the UK. I don't think it's because people don't like driving LHD over here (I've had loads of american cars and it's easy to get used to) - I think it's just down to the relative rarity of RHD. When u think about it with 700ish made a RHD Testarossa is rarer than a LHD Countach! Dom.
Hi, just an update. Todays`s Artcurial auction LHD euro 1986 Flying Mirror Testarossa with 41,000 kms went for approx. 165K euros (it was a bit hard to see the exact numbers on the live auction screen but was something over 123K GBP) - with the 16% premium and VAT that`s about 147K GBP - or $230k. A fair sum for a "normal" miles Testarossa - there is obviously some love for the single mirror! No official result yet but here`s the link again: Rétromobile 2015 by Artcurial Motorcars - Sale N° 2651 - Lot N° 116 | Artcurial | Briest - Poulain - F. Tajan Dom.
They claim only 300 flying mirror were made, which we know isn't true. Aren't they supposed to be "experts"?...
I have a uk car 1985 Rosso corsa with Crema hid red carpets 22k miles rhd with good history wonder what that's worth based on the result today in Artcurial Paris as rhd are only about 6 percent of total production and single mirror cars with Single lug wheels and metric Trx tyres were only made for a year must make this a very rare car by my calculations less than 60 produced. Love to hear members thought and views
All a matter of interpretation. The ad is evasive. It's not claiming only 300 single mirrors were ever produced. It's a play on words they use....typical sales approach, that's all. Your car would depend on the market to get the car to Australia or Japan and the UK and other rhd countries , it would not have much appeal to the lhd market unfortunately.
I know it wouldn't be of interest to L h d markets. But normally rule of thumb is rhd cars are worth far more than left because of low production numbers
I am fluent in French. Yes it is, actually they claim less than 300 built. Hopefully the buyer didn't go by that statistic. LOL "Première version construite à moins de 300 exemplaires"
Hi, the twin mirror RHD with 12k miles the other month made something like 130k gbp - or $200k which is about 40-50% more than similar mileage LHD seems to be fetching - but it`s only a guess as to what difference that would make to a single mirror car. Don`t forget total RHD production is about 10% - the 6% figure will be UK RHD. Even so, 10% of single mirror production which (itself is probably 20% of total production) would mean around 2% of total production maybe is RHD single mirror - or 150ish cars, maybe less - but that`s just an educated guess assuming early RHD production is 10%.... Single mirrors were made up to 86 btw - though there`s no real info on how far through 86 they changed to twin mirrors. Either way LHD or RHD and in all versions, Testarossa fever seems to be back - 25 years later - but this time a lot of the people buying them are the people who were dreaming about them back then Dom.
Yeah, I can see what you mean in the english version as they talk about "first series" which could mean single mirror or 84? 85? But being an 86... But I agree with Stephane, the french version is dead clear, they are referring to the single mirror ones when they claim 300 units. It's no big deal, just a little misleading.
Here`s the official results page, so at least I wasn`t seeing things lol! Result was: 196 700 / 146 000 £ / 223 000 $ News | Artcurial | Briest - Poulain - F. Tajan Dom.
Well considering its 1 of only 1497 total units ever made with the single high mount mirror I would guess that enthusiast and collectors are starting to take notice? I own one so I might be considered a little biased, but the fact is they aren't making any more of them and I'm sure more than a few of them are no longer around. It's been fun to watch the Boxer's go from 150k to 350k in the past 18 months, wonder where the early cars will climb to in the next few years?
