What is wrong with you guys? Have you not noticed how hot the market is right now? Other than the seats and the wheels it looks like a nice car. With a rebuilt motor no less.
Mike, that would be great if you want to go check it out for all of us! Maybe someone here will end up with an 83 Euro! You spend a lot of time on this site helping others and I want you to know it doesn't go unnoticed brother! Have some pretty cool members here guys!
Sorry guys, Kim, I haven't heard back from the owner, maybe being a Friday they must be busy. I will try again tomorrow.
Thanks Mike - I would be interested to know more as well. Particularly the california registration. Best- Erik
This could be a scam. Anytime they know the current market value and they are selling below market value and say they are not a "car guy", raises red flags. Why wouldn't he want more? If it's as good as he says it should be in the $50k+ range no? I'm saying this because I recently replied to an ad for a 308 that was purposely undervalued because he didn't believe in today's market. When he got back to me he said the car is currently in Portugal and he will send me the car on his dime for inspection...blah, blah, blah. I toyed with him a bit and started asking very technical questions and he eventually backed down. This could a legitimate ad that was highjacked. Craigslist is full of scam artists unfortunately. But I could be 100% wrong. I'm curious to see how the owner replies.
These people are all over the Internet; the same thing happened to me few days ago but the guy in Maine and the car is stored in a garage in New Mexico😏 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yep be careful. Been looking for a euro Qv for 6+ months. No emissions or inspections where I live. Don't really need a title for pre 85 cars for that matter. But prices are nuts and reals cars are scarce it seems. Lots of scams on 911's and 308's it seems because of the large shifts in price. The Qv is more beautiful to me, which is why I sold my 328 a few months ago after 2 years.
He never returned my call, nor apparently anyone else on this board. I think it's a scam. Makes no sense to sell a car so much less than it could be worth.
Try emailing and see if he takes the bait. I love toying with these bozos. The one that just happened to me asked me for my phone number so he can "discuss" details of the sale to me. I gave him the number to the FBI!! "I don't believe in reincarnation, I'm only going to live once. I paid for the car so I might as well use it".
It was a scam. I like the way he said that it was a Euro car, a true professional! I just clicked on the link and the posting has been removed! If it is too good to be true than it usually is. The days of getting these cars for $35-40K are over boys. At least until this cycle comes around again and it looks like it is just starting it's way up. You may have to wait another 6 or 7 years. I always use the rule "Buy the Seller, not the car, watch, Home, etc....". It will save you tons of aggravasion.
It's a US spec glass, they are expecting between 175-225 , the people I've talked to are expecting it to eclipse the 200 mark, how much over is anyone's guess. This car was briefly discussed in the "308 bubble thread"
I agree the subject car (glass 308) will eclipse $200k. No way the steel car is worth asking though... even in Canadian dollars.
I should know this but what is the scam . . . are they hoping someone will just plunk down a chunk of cash sight unseen?
354,000 usd = $431,000 Canadian. never say 'no way'...........market place is a complicated thing and has its own mind, as history has repeatedly shown. if only I had purchased Microsoft shares, or a 60's Ferrari, or..........
Look at THIS......unless you have already. Rock from Canada just listed '77 steel euro 308 "full nut/bolt" etc etc. On ebay Jack
Here is an email I got from a perspective "seller" of a mint, low priced 308 I inquired about. I toyed with this guy for a while and then I lost him. I guess the next step would have been for me to leave a deposit which I never would have seen again: "Hello, Due to the high volume of internet scams, i will send the car to your home address COD ( CASH ON DELIVERY ) so in this way this will be a safe transaction for both of us. As you probably noticed, the price is rather low, the reason I selling the car at this price is because i have to pay 18000 usd for registration here in Portugal. The car is here in my garage in Portugal. I can drive the car here, the insurance is still available until next month. When insurance expire, i can't drive it, so i have to register the car here. I can't spend 18000 usd for registration so i have to sell it. Now, I can't come to USA to sell the car because I'll spend money and lose more time, my only chance to sell this car is to find a buyer in the U.S. or another country. I can send the car to your home, transport will take approximately 19 days, after you receive the car you will have another two days to inspect it. When the inspection period ends, the transport company will contact you and if there are any issues with the car you can decline it. If all is good, I'm sure it will be, you will be able to transfer your name in the title to your local DMV. I give you the chance to receive the car at your home address BEFORE i receive my money for it. PLEASE SEND ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER AND WE WILL TALK ALL DETAILS." I gave him the number to the FBI. Lol!! "I don't believe in reincarnation, I'm only going to live once. I paid for the car so I might as well use it".
I did go on eBay and looked at the car. It's very beautiful and built better than new, $345,000 worth? We'll see.
We really need to ask the mods to merge these threads in the 308 bubble thread" My eyes are killing me looking at the same threads over and over , one after the other
Nice '83 here: Marshall Goldman Motor Sales | 308 GTS | Warrensville Heights, Ohio Who will be brave enough to ask how much? Nicely redone interior.
It took less than two seconds after I clicked on the first picture to see a pretty big issue with it.
