Starting to tear my exhaust apart. I want to go back to Hyper-flows and delete the secondary cats. First what is the reason for the secondary cats? I have read that on some Y pipes you can remove the secondary cats with a chisel and some you cannot...is this true? My car is a 97 so if this is true which which y pipe should I expect to find? Has anyone done this that can tell me if it changed the sound of the car much? Has anyone modified their tubi muffler? It sounds great but to quiet for my taste....I am thinking about a challenge exhaust but afraid I wont like the sound as much.....

The secondary cats are low restriction metallic cats so there is really no reason (no real performance gain from removing the catalyst) to remove the catalyst unless you wish to increase the sound.....
A long chisel and hammer will remove the catalyst.

Do you have the race or regular tubi?
I have a race tubi but it is stock.....and sounds plenty loud when on the throttle.
My opinion on the challenge exhaust is that it is just too loud for street use but others would disagree.
There is plenty of cabin resonance with the challenge style exhaust which is not for everyone.
