I love all the 3, choose 2 is a difficult task... I love the Speciale, those 605hp in the last natural aspirated V8 are just gorgeous, the noise, all the package. Between the CS and Scuderia, well.. Maybe the CS, that car makes me mad
Man...easy to wind up some people on this forum, especially when it comes to Scud vs CS. Everyone here could probably have purchased either one of these and we all chose the one we liked the best. I like them both but can only have one...CS.
No scud owner tries to do anything nor do we get all defensive; it's just a correction of fact from myth and BS with which select CS owners can't seem to accept? Select CS owners can't accept the facts / truth. We all agree both cars are great, not sure why select CS owners feel so inclined to be delusional in their BS. I can only chalk it up to insecurity aka feeling threatened. And you do realize 2.6s on a timed lap on a closed circuit like that, that amount of time is an eternity right?
For Top Gear Ferrari normally sends Marc Gene or Luca Badoer to do the test. He might have worn the stig suit but it was one of their drivers. Also, 2 different days + conditions and a more advanced tire on the Scuderia. I'd love to see how close a CS could get using the same driver, tires and set within a few minutes of each other.
So are you telling me that Ben Collins Dident drive the Scuderia or the CS at the Top Gear Track and did those times? Funny not what he told me Image Unavailable, Please Login
that's their normal procedure for timed laps, yes. I'm sure he drives all the cars but when Ferrari is there, they send a team of 5 or so people and computers, tires. I'm sure collins does drive the cars, in any case for the powerlap segments. They are all professional drivers so the times would be pretty much identical in any case. Having Top Gear as decisive factor in numbers is really not very accurate in any case... The Scud is the faster car, no doubt about it. But for some to call the CS slow is just idiotic. I really, really want to see how both will do on say Pirelli Trofeo R's and see how ''slow'' the CS really is.
No, that isn't what he said. You said it was crap. He said it was close enough to Scuds that he has passed them on the track. Then everyone went all intardnets.
I think everyone is trying to compare a blond swimsuit model with a brunette swimsuit model. Both are fantastic and subject to personal preference. If the decision was solely which car is fastest then just buy the newest Ferrari v8. They always make the new one slightly faster. If that was the case the 458 is king of this discussion. But that's not the case. It is about driving experience and the subjective value we each derive from the various fantastic qualities of a mid engine v8 Ferrari. I personally prefer the CS to any other Ferrari and I have owned and raced 2 scuds! A scud does not have the sound, the shifting, the seats and balance that the CS has....my subjective opinion. I would rather drive a CS on a Sunday drive all day over a Scud. But I also would take a 360 over any 430 or 458 because I love the lines of a 360. Let's all just agree to disagree and realize they are all great cars and let's all be thankful we don't have to drive a boring perfect German Porsche 911. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The difference track time at Auto club Speedway in Fontana, CA between my scud and my cs is slightly over 3 seconds on roval.

+1 Another personal insight from someone who drove, raced and owned both CS and Scud. And it's exactly my thoughts Both are great cars, i just like the driving experience in the CS more...
At least we have now established that the facts, the CS is indeed slower than a SCUD on the road & on a track, the best place for a CS is on a track as unless you can drive it in the high rpm's, its not a bundle of fun on normal roads compared to a SCUD, which still is. Or the other best place for a CS is your living room to look at as it is a more beautiful design.
Actually, my slowest car with the least tech - the 308, is my most fun road car. The Scud is the least because it is too fast and has so much grip. Wife loves it though because it is the sexiest ; ) My ranking in terms of driving enjoyment: Road: 1.308 2.M3 3.Scud Track: 1.Scud 2.M3 3.308 (LOL no, has no roof!)
Sorry but earlier you didn't just call the car slower (who cares) but you called it "Crap" To which I tried to point out that such a statement is both infantile and irrelevant.
RichardCH, I've followed your posts and appreciated your input to our forum over the years...but you look awful in this thread. Dino said he has passed scuds on a track. He has. Its demonstrably true. He did not say "same driver in both is faster in a CS". That is rarely, if ever, claimed. Because it wouldn't be true. OTOH, you said the CS is "crap". Awesome opinion and very constructive and appreciated by your fellow F-car owners. Thanks. Btw, there are obviously hundreds, if not thousands, of people who think your opinion is baseless (not to mention wrong and rude). Whatever, opinions are like *******s...everyone has one. For me, as I've said countless time, and as Ron is saying here, they are both great Ferrari's and many folks own one or the other, or both currently or have owned both at one time or another. Why the hate? Haters gotta hate...not becoming. Freshmeat - you know well that Dino meant he is faster than some guys in scuds. Its true btw. Both of you - try some reading comprehension before you go off on someone for something that THEY DIDN'T SAY.
Very well said! When I switched from a 1996 Porsche 993 C4S to a 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS people thought I was nuts. What a slow car, what are you thinking. My response, the 328 is a ton of fun on a twisty back road or even just a drive to get an Espresso, the Porsche well unless I drove it near its limits not so much fun. I do like Porsche's very much and always have one along with the Ferrari so I am not knocking them just stating this as a similar story. I look forward to reading your magazine if I can get my hands on it.
I, for one, have greatly appreciated your joining the forum and enjoy reading your stories of getting the scud and tracking it. Just had to say I completely get what you are talking about. Faster simply doesn't mean better or more fun (let alone safer). Some folks have Ferrari's that are slower than a boosted GTR or countless other cars and yet still try to somehow argue that its about speed when their car is faster but somehow its about "feel" or something else when talking about cars that are faster than theirs. Hmmm...
1st world problems are downright hard to solve...CS, Scud or Speciale. They are all fantastic cars showcasing the pinnacle of their era. For those who are privileged to drive them, enjoy them with a smile!
Meh, I'm faster around a circuit than an Enzo. Doesn't mean the Enzo is slower. Re-read all his comments on this forum, he has persistently continued to feed into his delusion that in equal hands a CS is faster than a Scuderia. I personally find it stupid funny at this point, gotta give him kudos for his persistency and never-die attitude about it though. Still can't forget his "mickey mouse" steering and handling technique video lmao. I can't speak for anyone else, but all I've responded w is fact; and that in equal hands, one machine is faster than the other, end of story. It's not a debate, it's fact, but some folks can't seem to come to terms with that obviously. Dino is fast is he? Then based on fact, he would be faster in a Scuderia then. End of conversation. Why is there even a debate about this? lol, and there is no hate coming from me, just fact.
Actually, Is an Enzo much faster than a scud? Definitely close enough that amateur drivers would decide the diff and not the car. Scud is a beast on the track. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Way beyond the scope of why I started this thread. If you feel so obliged please start a thread about on track performance of the three cars and discuss it there. I did my time on the race track and have no interest in beating it out here when all I wanted to discuss is having a garage filled happily with some of Maranellos finest.
+1 I started reading this thread with great interest, but i should have known it would become another CS vs Scud debate! For some people faster is always better, that's fine, but they should accept there are other opinions on why people prefer one car above the other! I could easily sell my CS and get a Scud, but yet, i don't, i don't care about the few seconds a Scud might be faster, driving the CS gives me the biggest smile Probably driving a 250 GTO would give me an even bigger smile, and it would be even slower than my daily driver
