The dealer has not specified yet but I would only do it if I got a guarantee of initial allocation and had it in writing. I would let them default as long they agree to buy the Cali back from me at my cost including sales tax plus say 5 or 10 percent premium (cost of money, hassle, etc) if they don't come through and put somebody else in line.

Don't know if they would agree to this but if not they would have to give me some concrete assurance with fair recourse if they don't come through.

That would be awesome, but does anyone (dealers) actually agree to this?

dealer will make money on the new cali sale, then make money on the low cali trade-in to resale to new buyer, then make money on the new 488 sale

i doubt they would give you back exactly what you paid for the cali t on trade-in

let me know if i am wrong

Spoke to Porsche dealer about GT4 today and was told 918 customers get first dibs. Same as Ferrari on LaFerrari/488GTB. Would not be surprised if Macca does the same with the 675LT. Great times to be a hypercar owner. Enjoy folks out there!!!

I assume that the covered portion of the car was the rear end, including the engine lid. That is the real question mark with the new Spider/GTS. How will they handle the engine lid, with the new spoiler seeming to require a drastic design change, away from the "hammerhead" look? Fred

LOL. Won't be an issue getting a Cayman GT4...918 buyers could careless. They all want a GT3RS.

While I don't think it is at all a problem to get a GT4, 918 could in fact care less. One of the LF owners on here is ordering one...

I think it's meh, but seems to have drum up quite a following by people who even have GT3s and other higher-end cars.

That's the key, already have GT3...Cayman is a Cayman. The top end buyers want GT3 or GT3 RS--trust me. Cayman is a great car for the wife.

Unless you want a manual and then GT3 is no good. Let's drive them both before we pass on judgment...

Na, I love my '15 GT3 too much, plus would never want a Cayman.

Also, PDK-S will shift faster than anyone ever could (but I can watch you in my review on the track)

I see no need to go backwards driving a manual car ever again.

Well then grab a Cayman...it's a cute car and the wife can claim it (if she know how to shift).

That way you can blame it on the wife for wanting when people give you a hard time for buying one.

While double clutch transmissions like the PDK are super fast, what is the fun/skill in pulling a paddle? I much rather enjoy complete old school control of a car. As for lap times, driver skills/car combination is what wins the day: I have many times seen people bring their fast PDK cars to the track and being passed by Minis in the corners...

And with this I would like to put a bow on this off-topic conversation. Feel free to PM me to continue our banter....
