Sounds like some kid got a hold of moms old Taurus and riced it out. .. very uninspiring IMO
Anyone in need of a testicle? Seriously though it seems like a fair trade to me. The new GT is worth it!
I'm ordering a round of hearing tests for you guys. It sounds great, I think most people find it hard to accept that it's a six cylinder.
This is more what it will sound like, this is a Ford DP race car w Turbo V6 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WSIIWvxEqaI This was also V6 turbo w 1200hp Image Unavailable, Please Login

Having driven a 3.5LTT Race car I can say that it sounds great. It is also great to drive. It's a torque monster, ours makes 700Nm, and pulls in a flat curve from 1500 rpm. It enables one to make a very light and compact car which makes a much faster car than a V8 powered car because you can reduce the form needed to house a V6 vs a V8. Ford got this one right. Another important factor is fuel consumption. In endurance racing better fuel consumption means fewer pit stops and that alone can be the difference between winning and losing. A Road legal 1100KG car with 600+ HP and 700Nm of torque and great aero will leave an overweight "Hypercar" far behind on any track in the world. The other thing Ford got (half) right is the aero. The rear is very LMP 1. They have the same problem that other manufactures have in that they can't reduce the frontal area as they, unlike us who don't care about that, can't stuff two Large Guys into a smaller cockpit thus reducing frontal area and enabling them to sculpt the front fenders to bring air around, not over, the cockpit to the rear wing. Using LMP1 type styling we get enough downforce without having to raise the wing to the maximum allowed height which really reduces drag vs a 458 GT. Ford may also be able to run a low wing. For Comparison. (Note rear wing height and front LMP1 styling) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting. I guess some of us luddites figure for a street car, faster at the expense of styling abd charisma is not necessarily better(in a street car) considdering few places to use that faster. Or what do you give up to go faster. But yes can see the advantages of a V6 and smaller engine package leades to a lighter more nimble car no matter how you slice it. Interesting to see the relevance of lemans applied to street cars again, it certainly adds legitimacy to what is being produced as maybe its really trackable. The new ford Gt and others are not gmmicks or retro, and compared to other supercras like the veyron which has to ask "why" and "what for" Will the Gt be fun on road, and or will it be great when driven to the track. If its great on track and light enough to be durable on track then its a step forward compared too pretty much the entire current crop of sueprcars. Putting aside street entertainment, the place to exploit pretty much any modern eprformance car is on track(streets are closed to fastd rivign these days) and most performance cars are too heavy and compromised for track. Maybe Ford built one of the few relevant modern Hi Po cars at least imo. Interesting tos ee if its fun on road(at moderatly sane speeds) too.
There are still twisty mountain roads where smaller lighter cars driven at legal speeds are a lot more fun than a heavier Super/Hypercar. Road versions of Cars that are real race cars make much better track day cars than heavier Super/Hypercars. The conversion of SCG 003CS to SCG 003C involves simple swaping of Road/Race splitter, diffuser, wing, wheels and tires, seat if wanted (road seat is FIA approved), rollcage (Street car has front and rear roll hoops and engine if you're doing a real race. For track days splitter, diffuser, wing, wheels and tires, could work and could be done in an hour. Compare Ferrari GT3 to SCG 003C. Note height of rear wing. Think about their relative drag. I agree about the smaller lighter car on twisty roads, love the elise for that, depite all its other shortcomings. Most so called fast cars are pretty numb these days untill 10/10ths, and at the same time too heavy for track. The one newer faster car that entertained at all speeds and could track was a 997 Gt3. Its quite a feat to make a car that can dance on road and track, cars are usaly end up being optimised for one or the other. Of course light weight makes all things possible, but then street car drivers expect levels of refinement not always possible with track optimizations. Will be very interesting to see how the SCG and Ford Gt straddle the two sides of the fence, while still hopefully having charismatic motors. Powertrain charisma is not a race car attribute but then ferrari for one has built quite a reputation on powerplant charisma, and one of the failings of the 12c was this, despite its output. I guess its all a function of choices, and maybe modern materials and powertrains require less hard choices to be made and one can have close to it all. IMO most modern supercars are really just a stylish two door lexus and are happily able to function as such. Nice to see real race car tech, dynamics weigth etc applied to a decently roadable car, which can also hammer on a track. It it all works out, then these two might be the first modern supercras, as opposed to boutique fast cars. Hoping for the modern equivalent of a F40/f1, something really charismatic, at home on track or road, and fun everywhere. The explanation behing the reasons for a TTv6 was great, allows me to appreciate what the ford may be, instead of lamenting what might be lost in terms of motor charisma response etc. A proper 21st cetury performance car done right.
The height that we can run the wing at vs. the 458 GT tells the story and gives you a glimpse of how a TTV6 enables you to build: "A proper 21st century performance car done right." Cheers
Thanks Jim for setting us straight on the merits of the TT 6cy, and how that plays into the design of the car and the aero. Hope Ford will let us in on the production numbers, specs, and pricing in the near future. Chevy better hurry up and get the mid-engine Corvette out there, and into production.

I will definitely try and buy this car. Bet it puts the hurt on all the other marques and for a good amount less. Might actually not plummet in value as well.

Yes taken at the Chicago Auto Show. The car is a bit of a farce with the chance of actually buying one slim to nil for mere mortals...
I saw the silver one at the CAS. Thought it looked amazing in the flesh, no pictures I've seen have done it justice.
The color is called 'Liquid Silver'. It would look even better without those big stripes hiding some of that fabulous paint... Image Unavailable, Please Login
