Yes I saw it, but as I said, "chassis numbers & prices will help validate..."

There is too much rumor & innuendo aimed and continuing upward momentum, so you can understand my desire to corroborate & ascertain. I find it interesting that whenever a claim of a high price achieved privately is made, mysteriously, there is no chassis number proffered.

I find the market to be the opposite of your assertion, in that auction prices seem to be higher than private deals. At least that's what I am consistently experiencing: Cars | Joe Sackey Classics

    Thanks anyway.

I just sent you VIN of a Ferrari F40 sold for $1.5M

I don't recall a F40 sold in auction for this price

During 2002-2013, it lived in Southern California.

Does anyone have a very good "Educated" guess as to how many 288 GTOs are in the USA today??? I thought someone a "while back" mentioned 35..... but no background to substantiate this?? Just curious...

The sub zero temperatures in New York have been a perfect time to get the major service done on 288. I look forward to getting the car back this week snow permitting!

I thought you had the car up for sale...

In case I was wrong about that, I apologize, but if not then I'm glad you kept it as it might have been one of those "damn what was I thinking" moments if it had sold.

Yes I needed to sell 2 cars to make room for the 4 cars arriving this year so I put a few cars up for sale including the 288. I had an agreed offer on the 288 and the guy got cold feet and backed out thank god, then the lusso and F40 sold so the 288 is staying and I'm thrilled to have it back! That's what I call a near miss. I will post some pics once it's home.

Cool! You definitely kept the right car IMHO. What do you have arriving? - If you don't mind me asking.

That's very organised having a schedule. I rarely know what I might buy until I have seen it!

Well I don't want to get off the 288 gto topic, but since you asked:

    - 1958 250 Tour de France, nut and bolt restoration and classiche at the factory, due in a month or two. Possibly the only TdF with a color home movie of the car coming out of the factory 57 years ago, being restored back to the original colors.
    - 1964 Aston db5, LHD, silver birch/black - nut and bolt restoration at aston workshop in England, due late spring
    - 2015 Pagani Huayra, full carbon with midnight blue clearcoat and chocolate brown interior. I will see the car for the first time on the Pagani stand at the Geneva motorshow
    - a v8 Ferrari, still in discussion, narrowed down to 2 possibilities

Yes I know I need help, I have promised the wife I'll get some.

Lots of background to substantiate this.

I keep a register on all the cars, so I track them down as much as possible, which is not very difficult as here are not that many!

Additionally, I specialize in them and trade them often: Cars | Joe Sackey Classics

At our 2009 GTO Reunion we estimated that the 15 cars which attended were slightly less than half the cars in the USA.

    Nice!

I would agree with the fact you need help... help with sorting out more garage space so you don't have to sell any of these when you want to add to your collection...

Seriously amazing cars - the tdf sounds particularly interesting - would love to see the video. Have you posted in the vintage section?
