    All ,

After a couple of ( amazing) weeks with my FF , I have already noticed that the leather that Ferrari uses is amazing and supple but it is also fragile .. Mine already shows some creases on the bolsters at left side of the driver`s seat .. Any recommendation ? What do you usually do/use to maintain the leather in pristine conditions ?

    Thanks a lot ,

Creases are normal for any "skin." But beware of actual wear in which the outer layer of leather with the dye is worn off. This is common in the V8 series, but I believe that FF leather is actually thicker than normal Ferrari practice, making for better wear performance. In my own case after a year there are some normal creases but no wear. I apply leather dressing to those areas fairly frequently keeping it soft and flexible.

I too notice the extra "suppleness" even compared to my 458 and other cars Ive owned in the higher line arena. I worry about certain jeans and button elements which could even scrape or rip it... I just have to some times get in the car more gingerly.

There are many good products and some threads discuss this. I used to use Lexol which is very popular, but about a year ago I started using a German product Einzett (1Z) 1Z Einszett Leather Care I like it because it does the job but seems to leave a more natural finish without any visible deposits or film.

There is however another school of thought that I heard from my detailer. If you find yourself sliding over the seat bolsters when you enter or exit the car, you may be on the road to some wear problems. To head that off you may want a leather treatment that actually leaves a low friction film so that it is more slippery. The idea is that easier sliding tends to prevent premature wear, just like an oil film. One product that does this is good old Mothers Leather Conditioner Mothers Leather Conditioner Since you may not want your entire seat to be slippery, which can create problems in hard cornering situations, this can be used only in those sections you think may be vulnerable to wear.

Enjoy the FF. It is truly remarkable.

Lexol works and adds to the leather smell. I'm not sure I'd want slippery seats, pushing the car would have you sliding around. And if you don't push the car with some regularity then the brakes will eventually start to squeal :D so you must push it once in a while :)
