Agreed. The moment I saw that listing I thought, 'Way under the money' and then it was gone. I liked the white more than I used to, but am decidedly 'concave' on the wheels as well. Good fast sale.

It does appear to be the same car at CNC for $50k more. Not a bad day's wage.

Ok, reviving this thread due to insurance renewal time. I've been with Hagarty for the last 11 years and they seemed reasonable compared to the other insurance I had.
I finally have some time to shop it and I'm finding Grundy to be half of what my renewal with Hagarty is and a comparable quote from Chubb? ( both Hagarty and Chubb are within a few dollars of each other).

Debating on whether to take advantage of the savings with Grundy?

    I've upped my values to

    1981 308 GTBi to $ 45,000.00

    1986 328 GTS to $ 60,000.00

I think I'm safe with these numbers although with the 500K , '77 308 GTB out there am I really?

Hard to say without knowing the mileage/condition of the cars, but I think you're a little low on the 328, unless it's a "driver" level car. I haven't seen a nice 328 below $70K this year.

It's a "nice" driver and I bought it as such...just concerned that if something did happen, God Forbid, could I find a replacement for it?
    Thanks,

I think you might be low for the 308 too if you want 100% coverage. I'm not sure you could find another nice driver GTBi for 45. An S, yes, but not a B. Of course all depends on everyone's definition of 'nice driver' :)

Out of interest is the coverage the same with Grundy? I'm surprised they are 50% cheaper when Hagerty and Chubb are about the same.

It would be interesting to know the history of these insurance companies, whether they come through for the owner or not.

    GTBi/GTSi... I doubt much difference.

US-spec GTB QV is a rare bird. Basically you need to go Euro or wait a bit - which is frustrating if you live in California and don't want a targa.

Ebay listing for $99,888.00 shows sold on their website ZFFXA20A3K0079863

Ebay listing for $74,888.00 shows sold on their website ZFFXA20A9H0067869

Ebay listing for $74,888.00shows sold on their website ZFFXA20A8H0070097

So these are moving even though they didn't sell on Ebay,
What the final sale price was is probably a little less than the eBay listing...or not

Marshal Goldman still has four of their original eight so I wonder if they are giving less wiggle room on final price to interested buyers. I think they were all listed at $99,900.00 on eBay

Seems strange that so much fixed price rolling stock would sell outside eBay and so suddenly. I don't believe the market is that overheated. Perhaps the eBay listings were allowed to expire or ended early to trade to some other dealer and begin the process again. I've noted several cars on eBay that seem to bat around between dealers at a fixed Buy-It-Now price and are never put up for a real auction, which is suppose to be the purpose for eBay.

Possible or they may be floating across the pond to Europe.

In regards to Ebay for dealers I'm not sure it's not just a cheap advertisement tool.

At least we have the vins for future matchup

They are not on Ebay and the Exotic Motors Site lists them as sold

I think this is the case more often than not. It's a cheap way to reach thousands of interested buyers. There have been more than one instance where I bid on an ebay car, only to receive an email from the seller saying the car was sold but they had a "similar" car to offer, or they would contact me later to see if I was still looking.

This just bizarre seeing a 430 and 575 listed less than the 328 on the CNC website.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around 360s being less!

I've been predicting it for a while (<-- takes bow ;))

The 328 is more car. More usable on public roads, more rare, more beautiful, more maintainable, more hand-built, more iconic. Easy and simple convertible top.

And less cross-eyed than the 360.

    I'm not surprised at all.

The big thing holding back 30x prices vs the 246 is unit productions numbers. When prices rise, the supply of 3x8's into the market increases faster than the supply of 246's. That puts downward pressure on 3x8 prices.

It's just simple supply and demand curves. Because of scarcity, the 246 curves are much steeper than the 3x8 curves.

With asking prices what they are these days, I'd be careful with the word "driver".
It seems we're rapidly approaching a market that will be very tolerant of miles and condition.

It wasn't long ago that we saw Dino's offered for less than the average asking price of 3x8's.

Maybe. But I think scowman makes a good point -- if there are (random guess) 500 pristine, sub 20K-mile red/tan '89 328s available and the 328 becomes recognized as a collectible or investment, the upward price pressure will be on those blue chip cars to a greater degree than the 80,000-mile cars we all profess to love around here.

Anyone have any thoughts about Leland-West? Their on-line quote generator shows a price that's about half of what I'm paying now with Hagerty for the same coverage amounts and restrictions (as far as I can tell, at least). I like Hagerty's reputation though and I don't want to trade off saving a few dollars at the risk of questionable response and service.

I completely agree, but I love that saying about rising tides and all boats. ;) I've always wondered at what point the mileage just wouldn't matter. I'd like to live long enough to see that happen.

Funny that you used 80,000 miles an an example; my car has almost 78,000 on the clock.

Can you replace either car with that amount of money (looking at current prices for a comparable 308/328)?
I asked this question to myself recently, and the answer is no. So, I am going back to Hagerty to raise the value again.
