Well interesting thing about private NS run. The ability to easily pass other car in high speed section of the track is always fun thing to have under your right foot. Lap times vs other cars are also interesting and valuable info because you can just see how the cars you can still buy stack up against the best 3 hypercars. And we will be comparing their times for some more years from now trying to get as close to them best.
I feel bad for the P1 owners. Not because its a bad car (in fact it is a fantastic car) but because the head of the company made outlandish performance claims that the car simply cannot meet, which has put the P1 owners on the defensive. Below is a link to an article at the time of introduction. Ron Dennis Claims Top Gear Track Record, Nürburgring Lap Record For P1: Video Mr. Dennis claims that the P1 beat the top gear track time record by 10 seconds (which would be closing in on an Formula 1 car time), but provided no video evidence. Ditto for N-ring. And on it goes. The P1 should be celebrated as being one of the 3 fastest hypercars around - it did beat the previous Laguna Seca track record showing that is a significantly quicker than regular supercars such as 458 speciale and 650S. And it is in the same performance league as the 918 (don't know about LaFerrari, no times available). But now we have certain people who twist any confirmed lap time of the P1 into something it isn't, just to defend Mr. Dennis. Heck, the numbers get so twisted, the Greek finance minister would be proud! I'm not sure why these people cling to the notion that the P1 has to be the quickest around any track, and when it isn't a list of excuses a mile long comes out - everything from bad tires (?!!!) to slow track, etc. Just accept the P1 for what it is. I guess then this thread would have to shut down.
Because of downforce. For all we know it could even be a braking g and clearly the P1's aero braking could help there. Doesn't confirm any such thing wrt alignment and we haven't seen a 918 customer car in a test yet. Different track, different result. Wrt telemetry, ask treynor, he can confirm that the tyre differences aren't what you think they are. And on PZeros the gap would be even bigger, your point?
I have truly figured it all out. The P1 wins, no matter what. It has a secret weapon that no one can match, which Ron Dennis single handedly arranged and licensed from Diego Maradona. "Hands of God". At appropriate times, the Hands of God will press down on the car to give it that extra downforce it needs for corning, the Hands of God will also push it forward to give it extra thrust that no mortal can match. But the problem is, God only has 2 hands, so if someone else in the world called for the help, only 2 cars in the world at any one time can have the magical power. Wasn't a problem before customers start taking delivery, as both hands can work on the same prototype for their record runs, but with a production run of 375, God can't possibly take care of every single car at the same time. This clearly explains the slower customer car times we see recently compared with what the factory promised. Case closed.
Now we can move on to other important stuff. Like, why can McLaren put 3 cupholders in the P1 while Porsche can only managed 1. P1 wins again.
Anybody remembers that pic for the P1 with a time-board showing 6:3x at the Ring? Then saying it was just to inspire the marketing department? Then renting the ring for 2 days with an helicopter to film, EVO to prepare an article on the record-time just to come back with "it was too dangerous"? You can't make it up! And now it's faster on one straight than the 918 without taking in consideration battery levels so it can't be slower overall if McLaren wasn't in financial hardships this would be comedy gold Evo and Top gear head to heads are just the cherry
With the Hands of God helping, any time is possible. 6:33 was including the time he got out to pee on the side.
Hehehe, but of course, you've cracked it! And where there has some otherworldly performance been heralded, the disciples must go forth and spread the word of such miracles and not err from the gospel set out by the divine Dennis!
RD is both a brilliant leader on the one hand and a manipulative lying bastard on the other. Everything he says must be taken with a quarry of salt...
Keep it coming LMFAO/EMU/MYCROFT!!! Just curious, has any magazine publications been able to match or best P1's own claim of 0-200km/h in under 7secs, 0-300km/h in 16.5s???
Ah really ? now is aero braking ?? Top gear mentioned clearly Lateral G. Anyway let's see Braking test from TOP GEAR 60mph to 0 918 spyder 26,7 m P1 28,8 m 100 mph to 0 (following your statement here P1 has downforce raising grip) 918 spyder 71,1 m P1 76,6 m The gap is increased of 136% despite aero braking dowforce. Do you feel the smell of your BS ? The trofeo R is superior to the MPSC2 as showd in Chris Harris video so if really there are no lateral g difference between the 918 and the P1 , it means the P1 had poor road alignment. And this is not the case of the P1 that come back in Anglesey.
This is the best summarization ive seen in a while. Dont you all remember 10-15 hell even 5 years ago when a car would put down a number and that was its number. Ferrari knew what they had to do and sent techs to the tests to make sure the car was optimal for the conditions. Everyone caught on and now the excuses have come down to tire sizes. Track surfaces. Track length. Tire compounds. Wind resistance. Was it sunny that day? Did you drink a coffee before your run and had to pee super bad so you went faster on track? Its absolutely insane. The 918 is the faster car period. It can extract more performance out of what it has right now then any other car tested (laferrari hasnt been tested obviously) it is faster on track then anything with comparable equipment. The tire argument was quickly debunked by chris harris of all people so why keep whining about it? Oh the track is to short for this car.... Ok that means it cant to optimised to put down a solid time and something else is faster there. Oh the track is long but the corners are slow so it cant use everything correctly......ok so once again the car cant be optimised to put down a fast lap there. Oh its super dangerous to release a time because then people are gonna try to replicate it and we dont want that....BUT OUR TIME IS TOTALLY FASTER THEN ANYTHING ELSE!.......ok logic dictates a RACING CAR COMPANY wants to stand on the top of the mountain and shout their car is the fastest....unless it isnt. Oh but it wasnt a good driver for that style of car....... Then it isnt a very good road car. Oh but the tires arnt nearly as good as something else!.......well i guess they should have done a better job picking their bespoke tire. But so and so told me this and i know it to be true!!.......well why wont they tell everyone that? And of course where is the evidence to back it up? This LMFAO kid especially is ridiculous since he will not answer questions directly, or if he has no good answer, or excuse (which the latter seems to be all hes offering now) then he just calls you dumb like a toddler would and thats that. Hes an obvious troll. Disregard his posts. My point is everyone has an excuse for everything, but anyone with some common sense knows what the deal actually is. Whether they acknowledge it or not is a seperate issue. Also these are all excuses that have come outta the cult camp. Porsche cultists at least argue with facts and ferrari cultists just dont even bother since they know what the car is all about and dont have to explain it to anyone

Shhh........with all of these real information, we might hurt LMFAO/EMU/MYCROFT's feelings and he will stop posting here and we won't get our daily dosage of entertainment!
Come on Drift, you're brighter than that. Even you enjoying trolling this forum now and then, and in the past you did it a lot by posting mis-information, half truths, etc. But you can't be encouraging our latest Mega Troll.
that's why I called it a train wreck I can't look away, just wondering what kind of bizarre reason/excuse will be offered each time out.
Yup. Cultists of this magnitude are Mega Trolls everywhere unless it's at 'Cult Life' forum. What disappoints me most from recent events is how far Ben is going down the rabbit hole, with his head scratching trying to explain why his track dominator couldn't cope with 918 at LS. Stacking assumptions on more assumptions and refusing to just accept reality. And that is the 918 simply being the more accomplished car. On road, on track, and even sitting still in the garage it's the better product. I have no problem with an owner or a fanboy liking the machine because of its personality, the look of the car, the noises it makes, the more jagged on limit steering sensation (on Corsa's, that would be understeer), the seemingly 'much lighter' seat of the pants feeling, and the fingertips feeling. It's the cult behavior, the refusal to accept things, the bizarre excuses to explain shortcomings, being shaded yet again by 918, that is what irks me. We are now to believe that MPSC2's are faster tires than Trofeo R. Well, that clearly was not the case in 991 GT3 tire test. We are now to believe the rules are magically different whenever a P1 is involved. I genuinely believe that from here on out any 'test' or battle between 918 and P1, there will be major in-built excuses again for P1. The numerous past invitations and requests to Mac provide P1 for tests, and H2H have all gone unfulfilled, and the reason is always, they were too busy and the cars were unavailable to the press. Dodging at its finest. They had a very good reason for ducking the competition.
It's because of the 918 battery levels that it bound to be slower on the 'ring. So far it's only ever been able to compete in HL on short, slow tracks and the Laguna Seca test showed that when that runs out, reality kicks in. Would you prefer it if he told everyone the car weighed 1250kg and could do 0-300kph in 15.0s and 9.6@157mph but that nobody was allowed to weigh it, or test it? I'd say this is fairly close for 0-124mph in 6.7-6.8s, now how about that 15.0s 0-300kph and 1250kg dry weight? http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/exotic/1403_mclaren_p1_how_i_set_the_motor_trend_production_car_record/specs.html ACCELERATION TO MPH 0-30 1.2 sec 0-40 1.7 0-50 2.1 0-60 2.6 0-70 3.0 0-80 3.5 0-90 4.1 0-100 4.7 0-110 5.5 0-120 6.3 0-130 7.4 0-140 8.5 0-150 9.9 0-160 11.6 QUARTER MILE 9.8 sec @ 148.9 mph Conditions described as "greasy". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj29plvUkqA
