AFAIK, the P mid engine car is at least 3 years away and will be turbocharged.

You forgot to switch to Race Mode.

I have friends who have simply permanently opened the valves as well

Better yet, just add a valve bypass switch. Total control.

If you need a bypass to open the valves in sport mode, that means you're not revving the engine high enough. ;)

True - I do agree with the Race mode point made earlier though. If I feel the need to make some noise, I just drop it into manual / Race and hold gears.

I had the vacuum lines pinned on the California so valves were always open. Asked my master technician to do this before I took delivery of the Spider and he laughed. Drive in race mode with the roof open or rear window down and I can barely hear myself think. Don't even bother having a phone conversation, I cant even hear the stereo. 99% in race, wet 1% when it rains.

Wet?!? Is that even an option? Sport is my rain / snow mode.

Had rear tires slip a tad in race when on the throttle during a sudden, heavy downpour so I was being conservative. Recently, I've started driving in Sport and Auto during my morning commute when I'm in bumper to bumper traffic and don't want to spill my coffee. Race and Auto is not a pleasant ride in bumper to bumper. Fortunately, that's the exception rather than the norm. Drive the Spider everyday to work except Golf Wednesdays.

Very true - the aggressive shifting is not enjoyable unless you're pushing it.

I drive mine in Wet alot when I am commuting, especially in heavy traffic or when I need to do business calls in the car. To me it is one of the advantages of the car, it adapts to what you need at that moment.

There will be plenty of aftermarket ECU tune for 488, 100 hp more from a tune is easy for a turbo car :)

The 675 LT does look really nice. I've got a fair amount of time in my friend's 12c, and the fact is that it is an impressive car. I told him once that I was going to give the car a high compliment. I said, "It's almost as cool as a Ferrari!" We both had a good laugh. McLarens are awesome. I prefer Ferrari all day long, but I'm proud of the McLaren guys. They've brought some great new toys to the world and wish them all the best (except in F1 where Ferrari doesn't need any more great competition.......). I only wish McLaren would change the game up some and build something that actually looks different. I trust they're not going to pull a Porsche and build versions of the 12c for 50 years.

All I can say is WOW !!

On a good day my stock 12C Spider can sprint 0 to 124MPH ~8.9 Sec, the stock 650S is good for 8.4 seconds and now Ferrari has raise the bar with the 488 and Mclaren doing one better with it's 675LT.

How many of the future 488GTB owners are going to complain about the added power and torque now that (tongue in cheek) Ferrari has cheapened the brand with a turbo instead on a n/a engine?

This is a great time to be an owner of one of these fine automobiles

I wish the would use the P1 wheels on that car. They look so much better.

This is a bit of a misconception. This car is still P11. McLaren has only made two models:

    1. 12C/650S/675LT (P11)
    2. P1 (P12)

So far it's not that much different than Ferrari. 488 really isn't that much different looking than the 458.

The main thing about this car though isn't the extra 25hp, it's the fact that it will probably weigh less than 3000 lbs wet. That's probably 300+ lbs less than the 488, hence the quicker acceleration with similar power (less torque though.)

I dont care about the acceleration time when i buy a ferrari.

The most important key factor is the high revving engine with a high pitch f1 like sound, just what i have in my 458 with novitec setup.

Ferrari is a toy for me,its not a car its the best way of enjoying the sound looks of the car when you wanted to.

Turbo on a ferrari is wrong,i would still buy one if it had less hp but a na engine with shocking exhaust sound.

If acceleration was the thing,i would never sell my gtr or turbo

They are f... Fast with upgraded turbos but lacking to emotional driving pleasure only a ferrari and an e92 m3 with f1 exhaust can give

    Just my 2cents
