Great to hear and I've had the same experience. Had my Coupe R for 7 months and 5500 miles now. I use it as a daily driver and it has been better than expected in virtually every way. Tame and cozy in normal mode - raucous and wild in dynamic mode. Notably, it has not been back to the dealer since the day I first drove it off the lot.

Well, it has at least one. The stereo sucks.

Its not that bad. I have the vert and spent some time adjusting the settings and pretty happy with it now. The car does attract too much attention from cops though, dallas PD morons have a serious hard on for it and i've been pulled over multiple times in it. Perhaps from the active exhaust sounds as I do drive in dynamic mode most of the time.

I've tried adjusting and i get rattle and vibration when the bass is where it should be. The stereo in the vert sounds better than the coupe.

I just found this thread and it was an amusing read to go through all the speculation and comparisons a year before the coupe was actually available.
To answer one speculation (you all probably already know by now) 2016 has both manual and AWD options!
I thought I would share my experiences with the car both as a daily driver and on the track, and compare it to a Porsche Boxster Spyder (another car that I daily drove and tracked).

I bought this car on a whim, I saw it pass me on a Tuesday and on a Friday (August 1st) one was in my garage. I had seen it in pictures, it looked nice, but did not do anything special for me. Then one passed me by and within 2 hours I was at the dealership. Mine is an R in Salsa Red with Black Pack and Black Wheels, Black Interior with Red Stitching, Vision Pack, and the upgraded Meridian Audio System, Glass Roof, flat bottom steering, and a few other options. In my opinion it is one of the most beautiful cars in the market today if not the most beautiful design.

The finishing on the car is great, as others have mentioned, it is tight, but roomier than a Cayman or Boxster. I am 6'3 and fit very comfortably in the car. With a helmet on, the helmet touches the headliner, a little annoying but driveable all day at the track. With race seats there would be considerably more head room (not to mention a weight reduction of 60+Lbs per seat).

Driving this car on a daily basis is sheer pleasure. It brings more smiles to my face more times than even the Boxster Spyder did, and that car was as close to a go kart as you could get. The sound, handling, and general feel you get from the car is just exhilarating, even on a casual commute. The ride is stiff but not uncomfortable. On road bumps you do feel them more so than in other cars I drove because you almost sit on top of the rear wheels, and so the bounce from the back is more pronounced. On regular pavement the car drives smoothly with good feedback as to what is happening underneath the wheels. Having a non-electronic steering wheel was a great decision by Jaguar and gives it a feel advantage over the Porsche 981 and 991 cars.

Gas mileage is actually decent for a 5 liter V8. I drive aggressively and like to keep my engine loud and in lower gears for longer and am still getting 18 MPG on my daily drives, that is not far off from my Boxster Spyder at 19 MPG and my Cayman 987.1 (manual gearbox) at 21 MPG driven in the same fashion. Most of my drives are mostly in city, so those are city miles and match the estimated MPG pretty closely as published by Jag.

On track this thing is a beast. I have had 3 track days total so far (just had my last one this past Saturday, and in the wet) and the car is insanely fast, and not just in a straight line. It has tons of grip, the trick is to be gingerly and smooth with the gas pedal, abrupt inputs to gas will swing the rear out, albeit in a controllable manner. As a comparison to my favorite of track cars the Boxster Spyder, I shaved over 8 seconds on the same track driving the R.
In the front straight at the Ridge Motorsports park in the Spyder I could hit 135 MPH if all the stars aligned hitting the braking zone and late braking in to turn 1, with the Jaguar I am past 145 MPH BEFORE the braking zone. The Cantrell Motorsports 991 race car was unable to get away from me on the straights at full throttle, I stayed behind it at 3/4 throttle.
On turning even though the Jag is heavier by quite a bit than the Spyder, the Jag was able to maintain same or higher speeds through the turns. Both cars had street tires (not R Comps), so there was no stickiness advantage to either car.
Some had commented that the F-Type R is just a GT car and would not do well on the track vs. a Porsche, my experience is that this is false, and that the Jag not only does well but can outperform a Boxster/Cayman S (987.2 and 981), 991 S 4S GTS, 997 S 4S GTS and Turbo. I would like to say that it can outperform a 997 GT3 RS, and even though I have over taken a few on the track with the Jag and not been over taken by one I am assuming it was driver ability and not just the car. The only Porsche to pass me in the Jag has been the Cantrell Motorsports 991, and it had race slicks and is a purpose built race car.
I am by no means an awesome or accomplished driver, just an average track junkie and reporting on what I have experienced in the car.

Have you tried switching from the Meridian setting (assuming you have the Meridian upgraded sound) to another mode like the Neo surround mode? The Meridian mode is atrocious!

I'm enjoying reading the positive comments about the F-Type. Seems to me that Jaguar has hit a home run and created another legendary sports car. :)

Abedh - fabulous post. I agree with all you wrote although I've not had mine on the track yet. It is so tail happy on throttle that it will require a different driving style than I'm used to. In normal mode on the street I'm surprised how frequently the rear end breaks free at even moderate throttle below ~30mph. I don't know if owners have dyno'd their cars but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the cars are closer to 600 than 550 hp.

Thank you! I rarely get past 1/4 throttle in daily driving, if you turn traction control off you can easily get her to slip side ways just by hitting the gas and shifting all the way through 3rd gear.

This Saturday at the track I was talking to a guy who owns a shop in Tumwater, WA who have built an aerokit for the car and have their daily driver test bed at 700HP! There is a lot that can be done with this car, the future looks bright. I am excited about adding lightness to the car, it wont be long before I decide to swap out the seats and start removing extraneous pieces in the car to make it a serious track weapon.

Isn't the term "adding lightness" an oxymoron?

I believe the term is removing weight.

LoL! The common way on forums and even in articles these days to describe when automotive companies charge more $ for less in a car is called "adding lightness".

"Add lightness" is a famous phrase, popularized by a legendary figure in motorsports, and has been a colloquialism as such for close to half a century . . . ;)

What exactly is the new or interesting news that you are referring to?
Not trying to be rude but I watched the whole video and did not hear anything new.
The AWD R's have not only been announced but are now available to order, and the manual on the F-Type for 2015 has been officially announced for months.

Well I might end up eating my words, when I bought my RRS V8 supercharged autobiography back in March I could not stop looking the the F type r in the showroom, so going to test drive a 2017 today. I guess the old guy image is fine with me, since I actually am one. Might be an owner by the weekend if the drive goes as well as I hope,

I bought a Black/Black coupe after my test drive. I must say I was a lot more impressed with this car than I thought I'd be. I have never liked the way an AWD car felt, but this car does not feel like one at all. It might be the first car I have ever owned that I will not modify, I never thought I'd say that either.

Well after picking up the car on Saturday driving it home and spending almost 6 hours on the paint (there is a problem with the clear coat on the hood that the dealer's people missed), on a very hot day. My first chance to drive he car was Sunday. I think it is a beautiful car and for someone who does not own very good sports cars (or ones made really good just for them), and or very good GT cars, it is a perfect car. For me not so much. When I test drove the car it was raining and the salesmen was with (something I do not normally do) me, so I was unable to really do much with the car. I have three choices keep it and take it apart (like the Porsche) which I do not know if I have the desire for that type of thing anymore, just let it sit because like the Panamera (I got rid of it after it sat for 3 years I put 1200 miles on it), it is just not something I really enjoy driving, or use the 72 hour timeframe to rescind the deal. I do not feel that good about returning the car, the only time I have ever done that was with a 2004 Porsche Cayenne TT (that car was a managers driver it was a mess scratches everywhere and warning light all on) that was not what I was told it was (I picked it up in the dark another mistake I will never make again). I have over the year gotten rid of many cars with less than 1000 miles on them, and a few with less than 100 miles, but in all those cases I took a big hit when I traded them in. This time it is more like I do not know what this car is, perhaps I am not able to process it. It is the same reason as much as I love the look of a AM car, driving it is for me is a let down. I think the F Type would be a great car at 3300lbs, sadly it is much heavier with very non intuitive controls and so as much as I hate to do it, I think the best move for me is to return it.

Sorry to hear it did not work out for you. I have not driven the AWD version so can't speak to how it handles. It is definitely a heavy car. Just out of curiosity, what controls did you find unintuitive?
