LMAO post, literally make my eyes glaze over; roll backwards, and water. Does he/she realize no one takes his ahem/alleged Machine Gun "logic" and "facts" seriously (no matter what/how good or fact based the previous response he's answering BTW)?? You can't make this up. SMH, like a wet dog!
Most posts I'm responding to make my eyes glaze over too. Full of misinformation and poorly founded conclusions, which have already been dispelled by telemetry and testing/use elsewhere. If people researched their facts a little better, neither of our eyes would be glazed over.
see states of charge (SOC) at the different Map modes: E (E-Power Battery discharge until approx. 10% SOC. Then: automatic switch to Hybrid mode. S (Sport-Hybrid): Battery charge until 90% SOC for high Boost-capability. R (Race-Hybrid): Maximum E-Boost function via electric engines for constant circuit use until approx. 20% SOC. Battery charge until 97% SOC for maximum Boost-capability. R + red button (Hot Lap): Maximum E-Boost function via electric engines until lowest SOC. Battery charge until 97% SOC for maximum Boost-capability.
I will repeat one more time for you, since you can't read or comprehend properly. The P1 does NOT have a bespoke Trofeo R for the P1. The Trofeo R that is on the P1 DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT have the Mclaren custom "MC" designation. It's not even in the correct size for the rear tires for God sake. The rear tire size for the P1 is 315/30/20. The Trofeo R that is available for the P1 is 305/30/20. Please call your local Mclaren dealer for verification. Since you love quoting Mclarenlife so much, here are a few quoted statements from P1 owners: Mikeyb "Mine are 305 30r20 103 y. No mc designation. So suspect you'll be able to find a dealer who can supply cheaper than a Mclaren dealer." "indeed... those are the rears.. the point being that they're not mc designated..." "i was prepared to buy the 'bespoke tyre for p1' argument.. until i find out they're not.. or at least they're widely available through reliable outlets." Mbn "I agree it's not bespoke, its just peace of mind.. ask me I don't deal with my dealer at all not buying cars from them and not even an oil chnage." So we know from Chris Harris review, a standard Trofeo R (which is what the P1 has) is 2 secs faster than a "bespoke" MPSC2 tire on the 991 GT3. What else do you got LMFAO?
McLaren has released an official statement on why they did not release a time at the Ring: Why Is McLaren's Motto So ******* Bleak? That motto is going to come back and haunt them if in F1 they keep having as many break-downs as they had up to now

Right okay... so why are you stating this? The car was quicker in HL mode, the track data proved that, not that it isn't a known fact anyway. E.g. Why is it called 'Hot Lap Mode'? Because it goes faster for a limited period only. If the period wasn't limited, it'd be called 'Race Mode', hence 'constant circuit use'. So what you seem to be trying to argue is disproven by the fact the mode exists in the first place. How else would it be improving lap times? It doesn't change suspension, or downforce etc. it only changes e-motor usage.
Oh real mature, what next, you going to cry? Well maybe Bovingdon was wrong then, because he definitely said the Trofeo Rs were specifically made for the P1 on Twitter, when he was defending the 918's loss. Perhaps why you can't take anything the guy says at face value. Suddenly his defence becomes unhelpful to the cause and only then is the truth revealed. Don't really see how this influences things. The MPSC2s on the 918 are still unique and therefore not comparable to tyres on other cars and the MPSC2s are still way faster than PZCS as confirmed by other reviews and tests. CH's test, still a big question mark in terms of the MPSC2 GT3 time and how it applies to the P1/918 debate. MPSC2s used were not the 918's MPSC2s, they were developed solely for the 918 in that size. They also appear to have a second new MPSC2 tyre type for the 918, note 'N1'? Was that used in the Laguna Seca test? N1 (Porsche) And when CH does a test and we don't see the MPSC2 hot lap and it turns out 4s slower than a 458S, that's just a big question mark right there. That is not a typical GT3 vs 458S time delta. http://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/porsche_911991_gt3-vs-ferrari_458_speciale.html Track 911 GT3 458 Speciale Delta Vairano Handling Course 1:12.88 1:12.49 -0.39s Sachsenring 1:32.97 1:32.76 -0.21s Castle Combe 1:13.10 1:11.90 -1.2s . . . Wow, another one of your conspiracy theories?? You are too hilarious. When people point the OBVIOUS errors in your argument, you automatically start with another one of your conspiracy theories and other non-sense. Just keep it coming buddy!
Stop deflecting against non relevent things. The tires make a huge difference. You are beaten. Live with it Edit: at LMFAO
Right. And the funny thing is, that most of the objective people expected 918 to have advantage only on certain tracks. Until now it overdelivered and is better everywhere, except high speed runs... German power at its best.
Surprisingly though, I don't really think there's going to be that much of a difference on a high speed track despite the 918 coping out at 165-170 since most track straights that should favor the P1 don't go on for more than 1.5 and after that, it's back to corners where the P1's understeer will bite it back. So even on a gp track like spa or n-ring gp, the 918 will still be right with it. It would still be nice to see them both on a gp track though.
I cant wait for this summer. There will be so many more of these cars delivered and you know the track videos will start appearing. I also think its only a matter of time til top gear gets their hands on them.
Only a true Porsche cry baby would try turn the 1.2s loss at Anglesey into a win. First the P1 had cheated, now it's just the tyres. Like I've said before, if 1.2s isn't a win for Trofeo R vs MPSC2, then 0.2s definitely isn't a win for MPSC2 vs PZCS. All done in HL mode too, so every time around we're comparing the pace a 918 can sustain for one lap against the pace a P1 can sustain constantly. The Top Gear test has already happened at Parcmotor Castelloli, the results will be revealed on Top Gear TV. That's what Clarkson was setting the scene for when he mentioned about suitable tracks.
Right... which is why the 918 was only 0.8s faster for one lap on Laguna Seca, with a 140mph straight, three 40mph corners, one downhill into another unloading the rear axle, another with a 35mph apex onto the main straight. P1 traction limited up to about 75-85mph in a straight line on a dry surface. You surely should be able to see that the P1 was pulling a lot of time back from somewhere. Suffice to say that when you introduce longer straights and faster corners, the traction issues will be less significant, along with the e-motor torque.
The test happened mainly between the 918 and P1 with a few other smaller cars. TG SPEED WEEK - Album on Imgur
Seriously, am I the only one that is sick of LMFAO? This guy is turning this thread into another one of his junkyards.
Top Gear test disproves yet another of your childish theories as 918 logged the higher top speed on the track in their test in Spain. But do continue, it's quite the show
LMFAO would pull statistics out of his rear end every way till Sunday to prove to you that Argentina actually beat Germany in the World Cup, and Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots in the Superbowl.
All 3 cars ...sold out. Focus more on Jim car and the next Bugatti (I'll wait for the SS) And for the owners go drive them, and when you track them (that if 1% do) enjoy them. i can't believe some here so naive Porsche did that Ron said that Ferrari won't allow..etc Like you guys bought the key to heaven it's a car. In few years all 3 and more companies will come with better and faster cars. 499 laferrari owners I assume they are happy, 375 Mclaren P1 owners i assume they are happy, 918 Porsche owners i assume they are happy. end of story. but my car beats your car that high school stuff.
