I see cars with the lolly pop switch and I see cars with the bat toggle.
    It seems to be random.

Does anyone know the "correct" switch?
What determined which car got which switch?

The black rocker switch on the 84 85 QV is a little hard to find now.

A regular window switch works fine here.

I see cars with a chrome bat toggle, black paddle toggle, or lolly pop switches.
I once thought it went by year but now I'm not sure.

I picked up the correct rocker for my 85 QV on Ebay a few days ago for under $45 shipped. They had a few and they are new. Listed under Mondial antenna switch, but they are the same part number as the QV and have the picture of the rear of the cat with the antenna on them.

The rocker switched can be taken apart and repaired. Typically you just need to file the contacts. But they are a pain to get back together is you don't know how everything fits.

Pull the switch out and push it to make the antenna go down while moving the connector around under it.

Mine does this too. Goes up perfect, but not down unless I do this.

Glad to hear this. I was afraid they were gone forever like a rearview mirror switch on the QV's

For the OP question. From what I've learn in the last couple weeks the early cars up to 1977 had the chrome bat toggle switch. The green vetro that 360C has in his family since new has that. The two cars ebayed by Rocco had them too. Apparently these are the correct ones for early cars.

If more early car owners can chime in what would be great.

Is there any trick I need to know before pulling it out? Or do I just get a screwdriver and pry the switch out?

I am thinking to replace it and the window switches all at the same time. Then I will work on finding a window accelerator to add to the workload.

I just pry it up with my fingers. It isn't held in by anything special. Just wiggle anything under there that won't damage the leather and it will pop right out.

Go to International Autoparts and get the window switch for an 82 Alfa Romeo Spider. Same switch but millions less.

I think you are correct... I don't think the Euros have the defog.

Here in the US we have a rear defog on the 308's. It may or may not be an "option" but I have never seen a US 308 without it.

Up until 1984 the antenna switch was on the center console to the far right and was labeled "aerial" This was necessary because the rear defog was a big rocker switch (carbed) and then a fat push button switch (2vi) was up by and to the left of the hand brake.

In 84 and 85 the rear defog was moved in place of the aerial switch and a different style antenna switch was moved where the rear defog used to be by the hand brake.

In a car that did not have rear defog (I assume most of the non-US cars), the aerial was left on the console because there was no reason to move it.

note: the only thing I am not certain of is the year the swap was made like the 84-85 cars. For some reason I want to believe that the 83 QV's were like the 82 2V ( aerial on console). Someone with an 83 car can let us know for sure.

My 83 QV has the Mickey Mouse ear switch on the right side of the center console. All 83's I've seen had that type of switch.84-85 had the rocker on the lower part of the center console where my defogger would be , as noted.

The ariel switch is the same switch used in an early Lotus as a window switch and is still available from England.

For those with the silver mouse ear switch, is it spring loaded? The black one is but I have never found a silver Lucas at a parts store that was spring loaded.

    Hi Peter

Your manual also seems to depict dual distributers so not sure it would be accepted as a reliable source in a court of law :)

Is your switch spring-loaded or a simple three position switch? I have always wondered.

    Thanks and regards
    David

    Hi David,

So there goes my evidence out of the window :) I've got the 308 GTB/GTS brochure in front of me and that's no help either. On one page there are two interior shots side by side. One shows an MM ear switch, the other a toggle switch!

IIRC my switch has three positions. I have used it only once and disconnected it after I removed the radio.
