I seem to recall reading that the very early 308's had the "Pinninfarina" badge on both sides. Perhaps this was only on the fiberglass versions. (?)

Just my opinion, but this just isn't worth losing sleep over. . . Though it IS an interesting question. Unless you're going for classiche certification or all possible points at the Concours, I would leave it just like it is: Left side, Right side, both, WTF.

Well, to me the "right" answer is Sebino81's post #6, and not only because Paul is a friend, but because I am convinced his answer is THE correct one.
The first glass cars had one badge, on the right side; during the production run of the glass cars, the badge changed from right to left side, where it stayed until the end of the whole 3x8 production run (except on Turbo cars: it is further at the rear of the rear fender, this due to the NACA scoop).
No 3x8 received two badges (= one on each side) at the factory. If there is a second one, this is a later add-on by one of the owners.

    Easy question made difficult. :-/

No one would question you if you have only one, that seems to be the most common. If you have holes in the body for two, well do what you want. If you have only holes for one the answer is allready given. Simple as that.

    I have holes for one.....

"Blu sera" is beautiful, Alberto; I know you weren't too convinced a few weeks back that you needed to put her in "Blu Sera" now, but as for me I think you took the right decision, and furthermore, the car will be back to original and I am sure you'll love it.

    Ciao

Thanks, Bruno: you are right, i needed a lot of time to take that decision (and pay the 12,5K euro of estimated repainting cost...).

Let's see if it's a good decision: that car will cost me (at least) 80 k euro when completed.

    ciao

That's a good question Andrew..... the garage should have started the strip down this week, but they are so busy at the moment, that i fear the process may have been delayed. I would really like to get the car into the body shop by the end of March, if i am to have any chance of driving my Azzurro metalizzatto beauty , before the end of this summer.

I think the VM3282 Connolly leather has been ordered, as have the carpet material .... i've sourced most ,if not all of the missing parts and accessories ..... so its just a case of getting on with it, now!

    Hi nerofer,

When mine rolled out in '77 they must of looked on the left side ,then on the right..eh? hmmm...eh luigi! what happened with da badge?

Maybe they somehow mixed it up during the switch from the Vetro cars? hmm..

Should I fit one now or just accept it as it is?feeling a lil bit paranoid/left out!

Put one on the driver's side. Or, if you want, put one on the passenger's side. Do both if it makes you happy.

    Or leave them both off.

It's your car. Do whatever the hell you want.

This reminds me of a little quirk that was pointed out to me by a fellow '77 GTB owner. When he was looking at my 308 GTB logo on the back he said that it was exactly the same as his. And sure enough when we looked at his, the 308 line above the GTB line was ever so slightly not parallel. He thinks that whoever made the jig for drilling the holes probably did it after lunch. So now go look at your logo and you will never look at it the same way again... ;)

Maybe they will program the robots for minor imperfection. I heard a story about the set designers who worked on an animated film. The set was built in 3D. It's very easy to program the position of a column in a room for example. You can place each column perfectly equidistant from each other and in a perfect circle if you want. What the designers did was to hand place each column rather than mathematically place them. They tried to place each one as perfectly as possible, but there was always a little human error introduced. They found that the end result just looked a little more real rather than a perfectly computer built room.

That also is the charm of the older Ferraris.

Most fibreglass cars have them on the RH side.
Most early steel cars I have on the left..

    No idea "why"
